Kev,
You would be surprised BIG TIME. The crunch will not have any adverse effect on these prices.
In fact it is possible the prices will only go up and go up very quickly and than stay there forever.
For reasons - we as Mirafiori lovers understand - original Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Stradale is a great car
in fact an icon among sports cars. The rich guys of this world ( which in fact set the prices) set the
prices) do NOT know that but they respond to images and perceptions of value not practical value we
do appreciate. They do not drive them daily or on rally events . They just keep the in the garage and
George washes and dusts them daily.
Apparently the rich and famous of this world decided it is a time a real gentleman had one 131 Abarth
Stradale in his garage along with his Bughatti, Ferrarti, Lanborgini, Zagato, Porche 911 RS, GT60,
Shelby Cobra and Shelby Mustang, etc. Simply the time came when the youngtimers (like Morris Mini
Cooper 1000 S , 131 Abarth, Escort RS) are perceived as having timeless value and are now being
invested into by the big fish for whom mare 60K euro is but pocket money .
This puts the 131 Abarths immediately into "luxury goods" category and the the "luxury price rule"
applies . They can only go up, and the bigger the crisis the bigger the prices... Have you heard the
diamonds go down in price during the crisis, or gold for that matter.
My pet theory says : the prices will keep going up crisis or not. In fact stabilization can be expected only
when we beat the crisis and the market goes from bear to bull ( and only stabilize not really go down).
So let us grab what we can while we still can or soon it it will be permanently beyond our financial reach.
Now I do not like my theory any more than all of you , but unfortunately it seems to be holding

Miro
