one thing did think unusual side mounted distributor. is that a 124 thing?

This is a 131 16V engine with special wet sump...NOT 124. The distributor is in an odd place. Fair price. If i had the money i would certainly buy it.
If it was a 124 Abarth engine it would be worth double the price...

This engine sold on ebay in October 2011 for roundabout 14k Euros. If I remember correctly it was built by Wolfgang Nehse, retired head of BMW Motorbike transmission development and produced 220 hp - and it was built to last. Surely a better choice than an old, fragile Abarth engine for double the price. However, IMHO this engine already is ridiculously priced (like a Fuhrmann engine for a Porsche 356) - and paying double the price for the Abarth tag?  Huh
