These are copies of pages from the European (and possibly global??) brochure for the Fiat 131 Sport/Racing.

The common colour combinations are shown along with 3 very unusual ones.

I have come across a silver bodied car with blue bumpers in Ireland (in fact I know where it still is) and I have seen a gun-matel grey bodied car with green bumpers in a photograph of the car in Australia (see below) but I have NEVER EVER seen orange bumpers as originally fitted to a Sport either in person or in a photograph.

Having asked a few people over the years the most plausible explanation that I have heard is that these were for the Far Eastern market only...but I have never been able to validate that theory.

Does anyone have any other ideas?? Huh Huh Huh

Kevin,  I have the original brochure at home and know also of a silvergrey car with blue bumpers in Italy. The other combinations I didn't see life, quite probably it was only a test and they never delivered it on the market.Nice to know is also that the red interior was never in the official brochures and was only delivered a shorter period. You also saw that the seatbelts are also in orange and green like the bumpers? I am searching for 2 more rearbumpers, than I have trim enough to do 2 sets for my Volumetrico, so if you can help, the rest is available.

Greetings,  Bellamacchina

I remembered I have the microfilm to look for parts from the Racing. I will look on that if you could order the parts in the different colours, then the chance is even bigger it was possible to order. Guru Remo expects it was possible to order. Will be continued.

Albert - Beige was very rare ... but my father's car had this colour in Ireland in 1979.

See here

The information you are providing is great. Have you considered writing article for the website on the Vx? You seem to be the most informed authority on the car that I have met...!? Shocked Wink

Might this be the Vx with the blue bumpers that you were referring to? The blue seems different from the shade in the brochure.

Interesting. The Racing was never offered in black in Holland, I expect that's why I didn't know it. Thanks.

About the Volumetrico story,if you like my person and Fiat guru Remo(member 132?) will try to do an article about this fantastic cars!
But it can take a while because I wanna give proper information.

Here in Malaysia we don't scrap cars by order. We are free to keep our cars as long as you want. If you don't have Road tax, just park it in your house and don't drive it.

Back to the topic. I have been to lotsa Far east countries Kev, But i have never seen any sports with those color schemes.

This could be the car I saw Kev, There was one advertised in Ruoteclassiche a few months ago with original 30K on the clock. I phoned but it was sold already. A few years ago there was one in the same magazine in the same combination, I don't know if that was the same car.

I had this bumper and side trim in storage. Though the bumper looks like painted later, it is possible that the side trim wa"originally" this orange colour.First I thought it was sprayed after but I'm not sure. Fun to see at least.

I tried to do it in green, in my opinion it is a very nice, but bit strange result. I love it this way!

Here is the black & gold car. Mark are you sure about how common the black/gold combo was in Ireland? I never ever saw another one like it!

Also a poor pic of the silver/blue one - I have a better one that I can scan later.
