I should be there on sunday with a bit of luck. Smiley

We went last year and it was a great event. Was hoping to see the ex works 131 abarth driven by Bjorn Waldegard the year before but in wasnt there unfortunatley.

The former "clockwork orange" Abarth from Jersey was there though, now in its Olio Fiat livery flying the Fiat flag. Cool

A few piccys from last year :-

Hi Wayne,

How's it going?

The original ex-works car (NPO) was previously owned by Mick Wood, but he sold it while ago. He sold it to an ex-works (not Fiat) rally driver with a van load of Abarth spares, for a reputed ?80,000!!? Shocked

The Jersey registered car is owned by Tim Parker-Garnet (I think that's his name!) and was as you say, originally the 'clockwork orange' car from Car and Car Conversions waaaaayyy back! It is a converted Stradale that used to be fitted with a Sport dash! Loads of money spent on it since though! Grin Cool

Hi Simon,

I'm very well thanks.

I spoke to the owner,Tim at the show last year. Was a really nice guy. I knew i'd seen him from some where.I didnt realise the car was the clockwork orange car until he told me,then it clicked where i recoginised him from.

Any idea where Mick Woods car ended up going to?
I was hoping it would be at the show this weekend as i havnt seen it in the flesh yet.
Would be nice to get some ideas from that car for when i get started on that "thing" of mine. Grin

How could he sell that car anyway?! Shocked
I hope he went to see a good doctor to get his problem sorted out! Grin

It's this coming weekend at Stoneleigh park,Coventry,Theo.

Unfortunately this weekend is not good for me; shame as it sounds like a good event. But on Saturday we are having a 3MA route-planning day  Wink and on Sunday I am told I have to attend a Charity lunch event  Undecided

Please take lots of pictures and let us see them as soon as possible  Cheesy Smiley

Hi Guys,

Wayne, Mick's Abarth went to Finland I think - along with all the spares Undecided You never know, the new owner might bring it along anyway Huh

The reason he sold it was because he has a Lancia 037 Rally Car too Shocked and wanted to spend more time (and presumably money too Grin) on that. He's not really a 131 man, more a Rally Car enthusiast Cool

I went to the Rally Day at Castle Combe a couple of years ago and was very disappointed Undecided (too many Peugeots, Fords and Subarus for my taste!) so I hope the day at Stoneleigh is worth the trip Huh

If it is in Finland,it'd be great if Markku Alen knows the owner and he gets to drive it again. Cool

That would make my day on sunday. Smiley

I think Mick Wood has a red and white 124 abarth rally car as well doesn't he?

I've seen it at brooklands about 8 years ago.It had an 8 valve lump in it at the time though. Huh

I like my old school race/rally cars,so i'm sure it'll be a great day if the weather's fine.
Subaru's aren't my thing either (4wd = boring!) but there shouldn't be any there anyway.
The Fords bore me a bit too,not because they arn't exiting to watch, they are,but because there's loads of them at every rally meeting i go to when i'm servicing for my friends when they're competing.
It'll be nice to see something different like the Manta 400s and the 037s. Cool

Now that i've got a decent sized garage sorted out,i'll have to get mine up-rooted from it's current residence and get started on it. Smiley

The guys on the British rally forum have said they would love to see one out there competing against the escorts again. Cool

I can race on 2 wheels not too badly but i'd definatley need to learn how to race on 4 wheels though! Grin

Yes, Mick certainly did have a 124 Abarth works rally car, reg XPV ???X, but the last I knew he was trying to sell that too. It was on Middle Barton Garage's website, 'Cars For Sale' section for months, for just under ?40,000 I think. It's not there now though Huh

I wish I could afford lots of Historic Rally Cars Undecided
