Title: Beta 1600 pistons
Post by: USA131 on October 17, 2010, 02:54:58 AM
Where would I go to find a set of 1585 Beta Pistons and how much would I need to pay? I'm doing a rebuild on my US version 1756 and I want to get the compression up to something respectable.

doesn't your 1800 already have domed pistons?

No it does not. It has flat pistons with valve pockets, hence CR ~8.5:1 :(

Hi, I have a set of 4 new domed high compression pistons. They are also oversized by 0.6mm. Actual size is 84.6mm. They are brand new in the box.

Email me if your interested

US  emission version of 1.8 ~ 80HP.

So it looks like a set of pistons are 200EURO. Other than buying from members are they hard to come by? For instance can they be had on ebay or online vendors?

they come up here and there. usually with a higher price than here. set of new pistons for 90's fiats is,  in my local fiat parts store, around 400e, and just a set of piston rings is aprox 80e.
therefore, i think that 200e is really not too much for a set of NOS pistons for a vintage car.
NOS pistons that i have for sale are european standard pistons for 1,8

btw, what the hell did they do to lower the hp so much in us spec 1765cc from european 107hp??? there must be something else along the flat top pistons

Retarded timing, low lift cams + EGR and smog pumps.

hmmmmm....
than it seems you need a full set to return it to eurospec.
that would mean decent carb and inlet manifold, exaust manifold and euro-spec cams.
anything else?

I think it was fitted with a catalitic converter and don't forget about the gasoline... It has less octanes than here in Europe...

Ramzi is a good bloke to deal with. I recently bought a clutch kit and other bits, including freight, cheaper than I can buy them locally.
