Look for the Volumetrico info in the 131 story section, there you will have the answer you need for that part. The 131 Abarth guys will explain you the other part.

As far as I know at the moment based upon literature I have read and possess (and I'm happy to be corrected upon seeing proof) the following is understood to be the case. Wink

The Fiat Abarth 131 Rally was homologated for the 1976 season, so (according to Graham Robson's book) the full 400 cars were built before the end of 1975. There is some conjecture regarding the exact number of cars built as GR states 'exactly 400' were constructed and another source states 406, either way at least 400 cars were built to satisfy the regulations.

Of this 400 some 50 were taken and turned into full blooded Group 4 racers, however the exact number of race cars is very difficult (if not impossible!) to prove as on at least one occassion when a shell was damaged beyond repair another shell was given the damaged car's chassis and registration plates, despite it being effectively a completely new car Roll Eyes

The remaining 350 (or 356) cars were then sold through the Italian Fiat dealer network, with 'worthy' dealerships being asked to sell them on. The problem was that they were extremely specialist cars (and very expensive!) and few sold initially, and it is rumoured that some dealers still had them unsold in their show rooms in 1980, almost 5 years after they were first marketted.

Later on in the models racing career some Group 4 cars were modified to look like the 1978 'facelifted' production cars, but in reality all that happened was that the survivors of the original 50 Group 4 were fitted with the later rear panel and lights configuration. This is bourne out by Mick Wood's Group 4, (which I have seen very close up!) which appears to be a 'Series 2' shell yet it carries a much earlier Series 1 chassis number.

Hope the above helps. Cool

As I said above, some registrations lived on more than one car.

Also, the site mentioned in the main hasn't been updated for ages. The years shown refer to the years the cars competed not the years they were manufactured. Cool

Incidentally, although some competition cars were badged as SEAT for the Spanish races they were infact Fiat Abarth Works cars with the SEAT badges added to attract local sales.

Whatever happened to the Fiat 131mirafiori Club Holland? Huh

I think that club folded Simon. A shame as it was a good website that I liked to visit Smiley

Now we have this site though so all is not bad Wink

Cool
That book of graham robson is a good book on 131 abarth

I think that club folded Simon. A shame as it was a good website that I liked to visit Smiley

Now we have this site though so all is not bad Wink

With all due respect to the Dutch site, not much changed over time (at least that I could see) while this forum is quite dynamic and active in comparison ...in my opinion...even it does stray off 131s from time to time! Wink

I think that club don't excist for a longer time.  In the mid 90s I was a member but by then there was already a very small 131 community here in Holland. With 2 members from the 1st hour I still have contact. One owns still a 131 Panorama, the other one don't own 131's anymore. He had really a lot but that's history. There were words and the group fell apart in 2 pieces. One guy took it over alone and I think he had the site. Quite a period he was active. I know he still has some 131's, quite probably a Abarth Stradale but we don't have contact. The 131 community in Holland is very silent but I have to say that we also don't have an active Fiat club. That is still quite amateuristic in my opinion. While when looking at the Alfa club, that one is brilliantly organised. Nothing wrong to the persons who do their best and enjoy their cars but the Fiat collective is not big here in Holland. And the 131 community near zero. That's why I am here at this great forum Grin Grin Grin

If there are more 131 owners in Holland it is a shame that they are not on this site.

Just shows how many 131s have survived the dreaded rust bug!

I know this is a topic from long ago, but i just came by... That's me you guys were talking about. Shocked
To make a small add, you wouldn't possibly imagine what happened back in the mid 90's.
There were the three of us. We had so many differences. In the end i did quit. Formed my own community and long after the first bled to death, mine was still alive. However, damage was already done and not many 131/132 enthousiasts survived. Now a handfull 131 owners are left here in Holland. I know of three; Albert, Henk and myself. Sure there are more owners but they keep a low profile.
Thought i had to share this with you  Undecided

When I first discovered the internet (around 2001) the first thing I searched for was  Fiat 131 Sport...and to my delight found the Dutch site. A bit like the wonder with which some new members arrive here ....I was similarly wonder struck to find other people sufficiently interested in 131s and 132s to actually set up a club and a website.

Looking throuigh the gallery was great but after repeat visits there didn't seem to be much happening...which was a shame and possibly led to it's end.

Like Dave said, if there are other 131 fans in Holland it would be great to get them involved.  Smiley

Kevin,

First, and i forget to mention it, this site wasn't my doing. I ran a club without the use of any internet stuff. This site was done by one of the two others. Just to hassle me, i'm affraid. Yes, it went that far  Undecided
And since there already was one 131-site i couldn't get another airborne. Like you say, nothing happened much and i fear that was the demise of interest for the remaining 131 enthousiasts.
Anyway, that's long in the past and nowadays there's another site for us mirafiori freaks  Roll Eyes
I love spending my time here and sharing my passion with all the others. Nuff said.  Wink
