Are the prices coming down of the RS2000'S or was this plain sale bargain?

Not to my taste that green, (sorry Bobby Cheesy Cool), but seems pretty good value considering these cars usually fetch more than the 131 Sport in the UK.

Hi Simon, i'm not keen on that Green either but did seem like a bargain. It was just by chance i was scrolling escorts on ebay and found this so decided to keep on eye on price.

I was thinking the same lines on 131 price in the uk.

Some of the RS2000 prices are shocking. They are a nice looking car but obviously no where near the stance of any 131!  Smiley

I like the Green Grin Grin. Was it a standard Ford Colour for RS2000's Huh?? However, Yellow would be first choice though for one of these Grin Grin. However I would never own one. Never that keen on them.

I would say that based on Auction Results, RS 2000 prices are lower in the UK then 131 Sports.

Good for those of you that own them  Grin Grin Grin

Not so good for people like me that want to own one  Cry Cry Undecided Huh

Such is life  Grin Cheesy Smiley

Rob, it's Ford signal green. Not sure if it's a original RS 2000 colour though.

Its not a mater of what its worth now , but how much in future, and as you know its not what its worth now but what its worth tomorrow, and believe me this is a bargain.

Not a great listing which perhaps limited the bidders? Sold for less than RSs usually sell for could this be a start of a fall in prices? Who knows?

Perhaps the colour put people off. There are still bargains to be had out there perhaps this was one.

I still remember the Jaguars in the late 80's early 90's people were paying silly money for mk2s and etypes and then the bottom fell out of the market Shocked

My old boss told me a few years ago that UK house prices were going to continue to rise and would never go down again. Not quite dear Cool

Hi Bob, a bargain definately. In my opinion I always thought that the RS's were over priced when compared to the 131 Sport. The 131 Sport is a much rarier car to find and that's why I think they now command the high price they currently do, especially if they are RHD.
The green on you're 131 by the way is much better than the RS that was advertised.

Hi Paul,

long time no hear? How's thing's?

RS 2000's seem overpriced but people seem to pay. I am a fan of the nose cone because it reminds me of dads mates Vauxhall firenza Droopsnoot!

Are you still on the hunt for a Stradale?

What has happened to your last Sport? Is the new owner a member?

Kawasaki Lime is a nicer green in my opinion too.

The RS 2000 and 131 Sport debate is interesting and comparisons have been done in magazines and on this forum many times.

However it would be interesting to hear from someone who owned both cars at some point regarding the differences, likes and dislikes in actual everyday useage.

When i was 15 (1992) my dad bought and semi restored a Black sport so i could have it when i was 17.  At the time my best mates dad semi restored a Black RS 2000 which had a cracked block. They ended up putting a Sierra 20i efi engine on a 4 speed gearbox. I had to admit that it was quick and quicker than my 2000TC on on twin 40's up to 90mph. The Ford was screaming it's knackers off though! We went to Blackpool once in the RS and it was uncomfortable and way behind the 131 refinement.

It was very tail happy but good fun!

I'm not your man for that as I don't think I'll even own a Ford of any description (pure prejudice on my part, I accept some Fords are very good cars but I still wouldn't want to own one) but back in 2005, Classic Cars magazine had a Sporty Saloons test with my 131 Sport, an RS2000, a Triumph Dolomite Sprint, a Vauxhall  Firenza 'Droopsnoot' and a Hillman Avenger Tiger. I can't remember all the details (I should try and find the magazine with the article) but in the conclusion the writer said something like "what's important about these sporty saloons is the driving experience and in that the 131 Sport wins if only by the width of a chest hair!" (or words to that effect). The writer also commented that in performance terms the 131 Sport was the best but did acknowledge that my car was "mildly modified".

Definately a bargain in a great colour! You should do bumpers in it on a 131 Sport Wink Grin
We had an article made here with my orange Sport and an Escort RS 2000 and I also drove that car. Real fun to drive, you feel that the chassis is more basic and it goes sideways extremely easy. It gives a very nice speedsensation. Of course we all here prefer 131 Sports, but I also can understand the Ford RS community or other sportive 70s cars very well.

I've never driven an RS2000, although as a passenger I have been in plenty whereas I have owned a 131 Sport.

To me the RS2000 was a much more basic car then the 131 Sport both in Mechanical Technology and Style. I do like (don't ask me why) the Nose Cone and the Fishnet Recaros where specified.

I like Theo for some reason wouldn't buy another Ford. I owned a Capri S briefly and the Wife has had a couple of Fiestas including quite a smart black Ghia model. I have also had and been impressed with the Mondeo when I have had them as Hire Cars. It is just as an ownership prospect, there are too many other marques that appeal more.
