Post by: 106usj on May 13, 2010, 09:54:38 PM
Seems these days that the forum seems to have many more guests using the forum, at least double the ammount of guests use it compared to members most days.
When work permits i am on regular and of late i have seen this trend strange i think ??  we have 500 plus members now.

Hi guys, yes i see what you are saying but i think that they are a lot of members who simply do not sign
in, as i myself dont always sign in, just read the new messages! this would explain why so many apear as guests, maybe!!

Plus a few of us are here in Germany on 3ma10 and would not necessarily log in when using a public computer or the hotel's computer  ;)

I understand all that.
I was just saying we have over 500 members and the log in for members is in general low on average.
Nobody sign's in every time they use the site im sure, even i dont.
The site just seems a bit dead the last while with regards to posts.
Maybe with the summer coming up and the members 131's coming out of hibernation we will see more posts and pictures.
Hope it will be a good UK summer for showing off and giving the Fiats some fresh air  ;)

Well... I am one those who are mostly shown as a guest. There is quite rarely a topic which I comment and I have used to login only when I am posting something. Although I have the forum open almost all the time. It?s just quicker to take a look without logginig in. I know I could select to be logged in all the time, but I won't because Marko is using a lot of my laptop too.

This site is MAGIC!  Only a handful of 131's left in South Africa.  So not a lot of people to talk to about these cars.

There were probably three cars build in South Africa. All right hand drive. It was a cooperation between FIAT and BMW. Engine was 16V with double carburetors and wet sump. They were used in several rallies throughout the whole continent of Africa.

All three cars are still existing. One of them was in Belgium some time ago. I saw it there when it was kind of restored. The way that happened was not of my liking but that's my opinion.
Because of lack of parts and later on support from Fiat these cars were build up with parts people could find just to keep them running. I looked at the car very closely and saw some parts that were definitely not Fiat. Differential was BMW, for example. Roll-cage was home-build. Gauges and switches were all different and taken from whatever the could find. Kind of romantic, I think.
The one in the previous picture is the one I saw, except when I was there it wasn't a complete car. Pictures of my visit later....
