is it possible to fit dual horizontal carbs on LHD 131 but to keep brake servo in it's palce?
same question for 132.

since i currently have 2 sets of weber dcoe, 1 set of very simmilar solex 40 and 1 set of delortto 40 dhla carbs, and not a single set of vertical dual carbs, i might as well make a use of them

Pedja, look here:



it IS possible. This is the Solex ADDHE setup from the Ritmo 130TC. You'll need the Ritmo 130TC intake manifold, however.

hmmm. i also have a manifold from ritmo 130tc but it's made to fit onto engine which is tilted as in ritmo and then carbs are horizontal. there's not enough material to grind off from that manifold to fit carbs horizontally.
is it necessary for carbs to sit horizontally or is it ok for them to be tilted 15 degrees?

IMHO a tilt of 15 degrees is ok. The setup shown works perfectly, although the space between brake servo and rear carb is small; as you can see we had to cut the stack in order to fit and mount a 3mm washer on the left engine seat in order to get clear of the servo.

who needs an air filter when you race? engine ain't gonna last long enough anyway to get damaged by dust.
perhaps just a piece of mesh to prevent dogs and cats from beeing sucked in

Pedja is right - there's some alibi mesh wire in between the stacks and the carbs  Cool

Here you can see me cutting away on the mesh at the kitchen table, some years ago:



However, the whole solution is temporary. There's an engine to be rebuilt in my garage, with an already rebuilt big valve head and two Weber IDFs, this time with "real" EMPI air filters  Wink

Pedja,

I drove a Panorama for six years, many miles, with straight draft carburetors. Had small trumpets on them and the fourth was only a half one. The engine always ran smoothly without any air filter whatsoever. Later I build the same carburetors in my 132. No problem either.
But, if you're going to race, and especially on dirt tracks, I wouldn't recommend it.
But, keep in mind: the Ritmo engine is horizontal placed, the 131 is in 15 degrees, so petrol flow is not optimal. You need to adjust all 4 carbs a little to get the same co2 from each of them.
So,it's possible and perhaps even better. But only for steady, normal use and not for racing.
