Title: Where to find a turbo kit?
Post by: Winker on August 11, 2009, 01:56:01 PM
I'm looking at turning this newing acquired 131s into a drift car and I don't think this engine has enough juice to get me around.

I have searched and searched to find nothing......I'm assuming you could custom build it but what are the specs, how much boost can these cars handle?

I also planned on welding my diff up

Thats awesome!!! I wish they provided the exhaust manifold and how/ or where would you put the carb? I have never setup a turbo on a carb

I believe what's circled in red below is a plenum chamber which sits on top of the carburettor. The small brass pipe seen on the plenum is probably where you'd connect the boost sensing valve so above a certain boost it will vent to air. Having a plenum chamber on top of a carb is common practice but you must make sure your carb gaskets are in good condition and well screwed down. An alternative would be to enclose the whole carburettor in a large plenum chamber but that causes other problems with heat and fuel evaporation. The best option is not to have a carb at all and go for fuel injection.  But if you are going to get that involved you might as well ditch the Fiat engine and go for something else.

To bad you can't get supercharger instead.

Would be real easy to bolt on

You should be able to get a Lancia Volumex Supercharger (smaller than the ones fitted to Fiats) and bolt it straight on.

Where can I find one of those? Sound a bit pricy. And are those root blowers?

Have a look here!

I'm in the process of gathering bits to fit an eaton M45 supercharger from a mercedes to my 131.

You'll find more on the other site about modifying for forced induction, this sites more about restoring. Some of the 124 coupes and spiders sold in the US were fitted with fuel injection and turbos. Track one of those down for a donor and you're on your way.

I wasn't sure if you could cross parts from the 124 or spider.  I can find parts for those cars here in Texas
