Apologies if the content of the thread dosnt match the expectations generated by the head line!  ;D ;D ;D

Jacquie and I spent our holidays in Italy last year south of Salerno (St Maria de Castellabate) and did quite a bit of driving in a Focus? :-X. We came across 6 Mirafioris all in various states of repair. This was the first one and the justification for the subject matter. The great thing about scrapped 131s in Italy is that they are often quite rust free.

I actually purchased the bonnet off this car for ?20.00. No rust, a couple of dings and it still had the sound proofing. It cost more than 4 times that amount to get Ryanair to fly it home for me - And that was half their usual fare. Getting a 131 bonnet through a crowded check-in area in Rome airport is not recommended !? ::)

The next car that we saw was in actual use. We just drove around a corner and there it was.

Driving around the National park and through one of the many quaint mountain top villages we came across this series 1 slowly returning to nature. (and before Simon gets in here first, I am going to point out the Supermirafiori interior) although I bet I've missed the fact that it has a reverse screw type petrol cap or something like that!!? ;D ;D? ::)

This car was spotted alongside a collection of other scrappers - What looks like a perfectly salvageable SuperMirafiori 1300TC.

The second last car I had spotted a few days earlier coming in the opposite direction but could not stop and turn quickly enough to follow it. A week later I chanced upon it again and the owners (a retired couple) were delighted and surprised in equal measures to chat to a tourist about their prized "unico propietero" SuperMirafiori. They had just completed a 2000km round trip in it and also had Fiat 128 from new at home. A lovely original car with no apparent rust and obviously well looked after - Very nice people too.

The last car, I made a special trip to see as I had spotted it for sale on the Internet before I went on holiday. The car was described as guaranteed with a new engine. It was a little disappointing to see the condition of the car but I always enjoy seeing a new Sport/Racing and had a good look around. Nice to see one with a standard rear bumper.....???!!??? ::)

oh ho, very beutiful foto and car, thanksyou kevin, yes what is price of this 131 sports i wanna know :D

At the time (ie several years ago) about ?2500 ...it had had a reconditioned engine fitted.
