We received via email the below invitation to the Sunbeam Lotus Owners Club National Day. Sounds like a good day and an excuse for the famous five (or is it six or seven by now) to make an appearance again:

Hi,

The Sunbeam Lotus Owners Club is organising a 'National Day' to be held at the Curborough sprint track near Lichfield in Staffordshire during September. As an added attraction for our members we are inviting members of a few other owners clubs for cars of a similar nature to ours to bring along their vehicles.
As we are only a small club ourselves I am sure you will understand that unfortunately we feel we need to limit the quantity of cars from each of the other clubs invited to a dozen each. I would be grateful therefore if you could ask your club members if anyone who owns a 131 Abarth or Mirafiori if they would be interested in coming along with their car to enjoy a day with owners of other rally bred cars of the period and maybe take to the track if they wish.
I do hope that some of your members will be interested in attending and would be grateful if you could let me know if they plan to do so. If there is somebody specific that I need to contact to discuss this matter in more detail I would be grateful if you could pass this information onto me.

Regards

I'd love to go to something like this and some years ago I did moot the idea of getting some 70s sports saloons and coupes together for a run or something - Stuff like 131s, Dolomite Sprints, RS2000s, BMW E21 3 series, Mantas, etc.

Nice to see the 131 recognised by other car enthusiasts.

Must give some more thought to this...! Smiley

Yes I have heard of Mondello Live although have never been. I do have an aversion for events where it takes hours of waiting to get in and out and the last report I read on it seems to suggest that it had difficulties in this area.

What I was suggesting was more a weekend type event like the format for 3MA & GKMR. But I'll keep your idea in mind for when Mondello live is on again.

I've now had some more details about this via email:

Hi Theo,

The date for our event is 4th September. There wouldn't be any charge for your members to come along although if they do want to use the track that would incur a charge of ?25 in advance or ?30 on the day. Please be advised that users of the track will need to sign a disclaimer, wear a helmet and have their arms and legs covered. Additionally there might be a vehicle noise test required by the track organisers although as yet this hasn't been confirmred.
Gates to the site will open at 8.30am with the track opening at 10am. There will be a break for lunch during which we are hoping to have a guest speaker who we hope to announce soon.
If you could advise me how many of your members are likely to attend, especially if they want to use the track, it would be appreciated.
