Title: Fiat 131 Sport for sale...
Post by: kev131 on January 06, 2008, 12:35:34 PM
http://www.martinwillems.nl/frames/frame_fiat.html

This looks like one of those opportunties that if you miss it you might regret it. Looks like 1 owner, appears very original and complete, might be a Walther Rohrl version but I'm not sure, is being sold by a Fiat specialist and Holland is but a hop skip and a jump away.

I was offered a 131 Sport from Germany once for ?10k - I think this was it.

Albert might be able to provide more information on the car and to translate the short description.

However if you want a 131 Sport in this sort of condition (I am assuming that it's rust free and all working) the price is not out of order at all and you could have a very nice car. ;)

If I did not have a car already I would be on the plane tomorrow! :)

Hi Kev,
That looks like a fab auto. The price tag ?6,500 seems to be average for that class of car. Would you believe I'm actualy going to Holland on 28th/29th of this month to an expo in the RAI ctr in Amsterdam. I wonder will it snapped up. Thanks for the txt.

? ? ? Well Kev, I was waiting for this car to come up on this forum. I have inquired twice about this car and was going to ask the experts here what their thoughts were about this car and the dealer himself. The only thing holding me back would be how do I get this car here to Canada and if the final costs would warrant my need to finally have and drive a 131 sport.? I've heard to many horror stories with shipping from overseas in regards to vehicles getting damaged and vandalized. The last thing i would want is to buy something that is in so called "original state"? only to have to repair it do to transportation vandalism. I don't know if any one else has shipped overseas on this board but i would love to hear there stories and maybe convince me that the process isn't so hard as i'm thinking.

That 85 124 volumex is pretty sweet also, but I was told it was sold :(

Thanks

Hello guys,

This is the car I also told about in another forumitem. It is standing at a specialist in Holland where I was several times. The car should be in very good and original condition. They say it had somewhere between 30-40000km on the clock. 1st owner was 85 years old. It should went to a younger guy who tried to have more horsepower what went wrong. As far as I know the engine is out now but they wanna sell it in working condition registered here for the asking price.BUT! even without an engine it can be a very sensible buy!
One other thing. THIS CAR IS NOT A WALTER R?HRL VERSION!!!  Everybody can say what he want,it is not this version because it is a 1979 car, while the R?hrl cars came after the 1980 championshipwin. This one has the signs from Walter. Not the(actually cheap looking) fog lights and the 2 coloured stripes at the sides. Completely not a shame but definately not a R?hrl. If anybody shows real interest, it doesn't matter from where I will try to help but( see also the other articles in that case no serious timewaters please!?)
And Fiatcan, I have a friend in Canada who recently imported there a Tatra 603 from Slovakia, if you need some info maybe we can have contact!?

Thank-you Albert and Eugene for the help. I will try to get some more info and pictures of the car as the previous emails sent to the holland shop were for the asking price. Then maybe I could call one of the contacts to get a general price on shipping price and procedure.

I've seen the roof spoiler with "Fiat Sport" on it and in fact wanted one for years (but I don't think I want one any more...). I've never seen the boot spoilers with "Fiat Sport" on them though  :-\

Your car was part of an article in the dutch Autovisie magazine 22-2007.
Here is a picture. If you are interested I can ask for back issues. It is not without mistakes but nice to see your car!
Here is a little translation of this part: At a dutch Fiat specialist we found a quite scarce sportive Fiat, a 131 Racing. But because in the right taillight stand Sport instead of Racing we guessed it should be a car from Germany and that is true.On the C style stands the sign from Walter R?hrl who became a WRChampion in 1980 with the 131 Abarth. Fiat did a good marketing job working with the extreme popularity of this rallyecrack by introducing a special Walter R?hrl edition.(  This is my own textThis car is not completely it, it is built in 1979 but that doesn't matter at all. It lacks the stickers at the sides and the foglights, that's all. About the spoilers, I saw them with Fiat sport on and with H?rmann. I expect the WR is nothing more as a normal Sport with a few aftermarket details. And you can R?hralise your car quite easy if you want too because it stands nowhere)
The car here is an orange example from 1979 which still wears its original paint. When Martin tells that this car was owned by a 85year old man I have to laugh.Older cars were the mostly from older men when you have to believe the seller, but in this case it is really true.It had to be a very sportive old guy. And even nicer, he was the 1st owner. He kept the car till the summer of 2004.The clock shows 33.700km but it went round 1 time. When you know the troubles with rust from this model, this car looks very well. The interior is a little less but the material is easy wearing. Under the bonnet there is some work to do so we cannot drive the car.The son from the 1st owner tried to do a few mechanical changes but didn't bring it to an good end and offered the car.Martin found the car through friends who also own a Sport themselves. Soon the 131 will be repaired and is for sale for 6500E including dutch registration. With that price it isn't cheap but these cars come up for sale not too often.

( I only translated almost literally)
