Title: 3MA2013 Status Update
Post by: Robert on April 07, 2013, 02:15:06 PM
I will use this thread to give you an update on the 3MA status.

First, here's an overview of the finalized routes, together with some dingy Google Maps screen shots. The road book (the route part) is finished and is currently undergoing copy-editing  :)

I have just been informed that on Wednesday, May 8, 9 a.m., we will have the pleasure to be greeted by the Mayor of Miesbach, Ms Ingrid Pongratz, on the hotel premises, presumably in the lobby  8).

Anyone familiar with tulips? Not the flowers  ;)

We use them heavily in the 3MA2013 road book. Here's two pages, first an explanation of the tulip system, then a sample page that directs you to the nearest fuel stations in Miesbach.

WOW!!  :o These are extremely professional Robert! Very well done! You have certainly raised the bar in terms of 3MA route books - not sure these will be matched in the future, let alone bettered.

Thank you!  8)

I have used tulip route books before, but not sure many of the other 3MAers will have - and not sure whether I'll be able to read them as well as drive. Might be 'exciting'!  :o ;D

I've used Tulips before and if I've used them anyone can!  :)

What I've found difficult with earlier versions though is that if you lose your place it's very difficult to catch up. Having recognisable photos on the page is bound to help with that problem.

Being a solo driver though and juggling route maps, walkie talkies, enjoying the scenery, admiring your fellow 3MAer's Mirafioris,  taking photos (all while stationary of course) is some challenge. Throw in keeping an eye on your gauges and listening for any funny noises from 30 year old cars....and 3MA driving is anything but stress free!  :)

Today, E.ON energy  company confirmed our guided tour to the Walchensee hydroelectric power plant on Saturday, May 11, 2:30 p.m. - we are invited to park our cars in the power plant's inner yard, normally closed to the public  8)

Excellent Robert. Thanks for organising it.  ;D

I love big mechanical and electrical equipment - and it doesn't come much bigger than an HEP Station! 8)

As of today, the road book is finished and printed. Binding will be done on Monday. I think you will like the result  ;)

The "Ineptitude", still in her garage, has new MOT, new tyres and proudly shows off the "Official 3MA2013 plaque"  8)
