Now that my car is (almost) painted and assembly has started, I need help for choosing the right color for the wheels. These are Cromodora CD 16 ("Iron Cross");  they were cleaned, blasted and painted; however, the painter did not pick the color ordered (plain silver), but some kind of gun metal grey. At the moment, I am really undecided what color would be best: plain silver, the color to be seen below, or (as a friend just told me, what would be his preferrence): black (to match the black bonnet to be installed).

What to do? Any ideas welcome!

Best regards,
Robert

Hi Robert - I have some pictures of my car with these wheels fitted - painted in quite a bright silver. I'll post them later if that helps.

Both Brensports and Sam22 have these wheels in silver fitted to orange sports too.

My view would be the silver....and keep the bonnet orange too...but each to his own.  Wink

Is this the old blue car by the way...?

Hi Kevin, yes this is the blue car in its current livery - not yet finished, but on its way. Please do post a picture showing the look from the side with the silver wheels fitted, this will help a lot.

The bonnet will be painted flat (matt) black, as a reminiscence to the 60's/70's rallye cars, and adorned with the big FIAT logo, like before; however, it will be a Group 4 glassfiber bonnet. (I do have a rust free spare metal bonnet, if ever I want to change the car back to standard look, don't worry  Wink )

Your car looks really nice painted orange Smiley

Personally I prefer the bonnet orange and would choose a slightly darker shade for the wheels, but that's just me. At the end of the day it is your car and you should choose something that you are happy with.

Trying to please other people just leads to disappointment and upset Wink

612 or 647 silver as they are very similar and this is the colour of the modern Fiat alloys so you know what it looks like

Well, one reason for the black bonnet you might see in the pictures below, some quick photoshopping done on an old pic: the red color of the Fiat logo does not go together with orange; in German we say "it bites". Means, red and orange together is a no go. With black no problem, judge for yourself. And I am absolutely determined to have the logo back on the hood  Cool.

And, as said before, I still have a spare (Diesel) bonnet in the shed, to be installed if I should change my mind.

Right spoken, Dave - I'll have the car my way and it should make me happy. But on the wheel issue I am still undecided  Huh.

The story continues - just hijacked one of Kevin's pics and did a little photoshopping on it. Direct comparison now - and black's not that bad IMHO, Gun Metal Grey ruled out I assume, so silver or black:

Black doesn't do it for me so I would go with silver if it was me. As we said before it is your car though. You could of course have two sets and swap as you feel the need Cheesy

Black are out of the question. Gun metal look OK , but unless you want to look like a "village tuner" go with the bright silver.

If you want more sporty look go with the silver and make the bonnet flat black  but than you must install large lights (like Super Oscars). On the black bonnet put the fiat logo as on one of the pictures below - the one with golden wreath not the white one .

This is my advise but, as the Romans used to say: de gustibus non disputandum est - so do whatever pleases your eyes best
