My white 131 1600 has the chrome bumper.
However when fitted and adjusted correctly the area of front valance behind the bumper being white is so obviously visible.
This would look better painted black.
Does anyone know if that are should was black from the factory?

Note the photo below shows the old bumper but the area above the bumper and below the grill can be seen.

Hi Steve,

yes this area should be painted black.

At least in Germany all Fiat 131 where painted black there  Wink

Steve I have a  1977 131 here with chrome bumpers all this area
you refer to is painted black from original...

Although all fiat 131 were painted in black with a special coating (often dripping by the vents to the inner side) seat finish of this part was in the same colour as body; I suppose they overpainted the black coating. So this is the reason why your car is different.
