nice car but i still do not think it would make 15k either rhd or lhd. as for the year the nct on post 1980 cars can only be a good thing as there are some ropey yokes out there, even if it is only a money making excerise by the government to have the nct yearly for cars over 10yrs

i agree that it would be a good thing Seamus but every year? i only did 600 miles in the lady last year & to get another test after that would only be giving them more money what if it was every 3 years of every 6000 miles but that would be hard to police cos i would have 2 sets of clocks lol!
can our resident nct tester "the prophet of the red doom" tell us if any post 1980 classics are actually being tested?

Why do you think it was grey originally Nick...?

I was looking at an orange 132 some time ago with a black painted engine bay and the seller said that this was a fashion...or a short cut) I can't remember which) when changing a car's colour - A brush job in the engine bay to hide the original colour.

The presence of red seats (if original) could mean an exterior colour of either black, grey or silver.  Smiley

Maybe the engine bay is gun metal grey and maybe it's not...I dont know how you can tell for sure from one picture Nick but black cars were commonly available new with red interiors (there is one in Co Clare) - and we have seen a silver car on here some time ago with a red interior which someone (I can't remember who) maintained was a colour combination available from new...! I'm not saying that you are wrong - Just questioning the facts on which the statement is made...  Smiley

What I believe to be standard seating colours is:

all orange cars came with black seats

all black cars came with orange seats

and grey and silver cars came with the option of either black or red seats

So, yes with this car coming with red seats it could have been either black, grey or silver.

I really don't care what the original color was since I like the final result... Wink
It was a common thing here to change the color from the outside and not in the engine bay or in the inside of the doors or even in the trunk since it was too expensive to strip the car to change the color... Wink

This is probably the subject that recurs most often on this forum and there is often disagreement....

Black cars also came with either black and brown seats (like my father's car) Chris...but if there is one thing I've learnt since the creation of this forum, it is that I don't know as much about 131s as I thought I did!!  Grin Wink

Ok Kevin & Chris
black cars had black or pippin red seats & brown as Kevin has seen 1st hand in his dads car
grey 628 cars had pippin red or black seats as i have seen in my lifetime
silver 620 cars had only black seats as seen in my lifetime, if anyone has proof of the 620 car having pippin red seats please post it here
also where in the world can the black & pippin red material be bought for a retrim? anyone?

I'd like to see evidence of that too and I dont know if anyone has tried harder than you to find the right material Nick but good luck in your efforts.

I know that the rear seat base material split in my Dad's car and that we got a replacement from Fiat under warranty - The split material was used by a colleague to cover the rear seat of his series 1 131. If only we had the part number that could help maybe... Huh
