A well known collector of classic cars in Dublin kindly allowed me to inspect, photograph and publish (here) details of his collection when I went to visit him in March this year. The car of most interest (and of most value to him) is his 131 Abarth Stradale which has just undergone a mechanical and cosmetic overhaul. In addition to the Abarth, he has a racy version of a 131 Sport along with a series 2 131 Panaorama 1300 (both imported from Italy recently) - Plans are to convert the Panorama to a 2000 TC and to use it as a tow car for his racy 131 - His Abarth is too valuable for the historic rallying that he indulges in.

In addition to the 131s he also has a few other interesting Fiats which you can see from the pictures. He was a Hillman dealer in his younger days and as a result has quite a few cars from that maker too.

I saw that collection & some cars there i can say! Seamus the man helped us out with 127 bits for Pauls sport but the orange 127 was a bit rotten to say the least thats probably why it was shifted on, uneconomical to repair & twas a bit uneconomical with the truth where it came from Wink

Are you sure that the panorama is a series 2 since the dashboard, the organs and the steering wheel is from series 1?

Yeah, it probably is an early series 2 131. I have a 1978 series 2 131 1300 aswell, and it has the series 1 dash, steering wheel, centre console, interior etc. And that's the way it left the fiat factory.

You're quite right Chris, all 131 'L' models were basically the same trim and instruments as the last of the few series 1 Specials (aka 131S) and so were indeed fitted with Series 1 steering wheel, and dash board - even having the same pull down glove box rather than the one with slding covers.

The 'L' was not very 'Lusso' if you ask me, but with the basic three semi-circular dial dash it has a certain interest - to me at least Grin Grin Very simple, with very little to go wrong - that's me and the car!! Cheesy Cheesy

Seems a great shame that it will be hacked about to make a 2000TC tow-car though, as there are very few Panoramas on this World as it is. Undecided

Yes it does resemble the S1 basic version's dashboard but that was standard on the basic S2 car too - Just to remind the purchaser that they hadn't been able to afford the better version! Wink

Definitely S2 for many reasons, S1 estates were called Familiares (not Panoramas), this blue colour was introduced to the 131 with the S2 version, the bonnet does not have the indentations...there are probably many other differences that I can't think of right now... Smiley
