It's almost corrupt the way that countries vote for Eurovision - even if the votes are all phoned in! I think it's about time we pulled out of this and saved our money - buy a hospital each year instead!

But they are not! Call-in votes account for only 50% of the final vote. Each country have a panel made up of 5 'experts' from the music industry (plus one regulator/inspector) who cast their votes at the previous day's dress rehearsal (hence called the 'Jury final or semi') and those 5 people's vote account for 50% of the final vote! In fact since the jury vote was re-introduced in 2009 the favourite song has always won, making the result rather predictable  Maybe they should go back to 100% televoting

Australia broadcast the three shows over the weekend of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May. Although the shows were not screened live, the majority of Australians stay away from the internet and news channels to avoid finding out the results prior to the shows being aired.

Broadcaster SBS also avoid putting any spoilers on their website, so that fans can watch as though the shows are live without finding out the results first.

The results of the Australian televote for the Final are (number of televotes):

So while there are differences in the overall pecking order, the first two countries (Sweden and Russia) are the same and the UK hasn't done much better at 20 instead of 25 proving that the UK's position was more to do with the song and less to do with 'block political voting'.

According to iTunes, Euphoria, the winning song from the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, is currently at number one in the following countries:

    Norway
    Spain
    Sweden
    Switzerland
   

It is also in the top 10 in France and Portugal.

So it seems a lot of people like the song. Maybe it deserved to win

Obviously Sweden was a winner for both the people and the jury while the Russian Babushkas while loved by the people didn't do too well with the jury.  The same can also be said for Turkey. Italy and Spain however,  were not liked by the people but liked by the jury. The UK song was actually voted last by the jury so it was only saved from the bottom by the people's vote. So the Brits should stop claiming "we'll never win because nobody likes us" and have a more serious attempt at a better song!   Greece was also pushed down the scale by the jury    It seems wrong to me that just five people from each country have equal voting rights as the millions of people who pay (for the phone call) to vote! Plus since the jury vote was introduced the favourite song has won making the contest very predictable. I think the EBU should go back to televoting only or just ask me to choose the winner!
