Good luck selling Jonathan!

A perfect and original Racing really can go through the 10K barrier nowadays guys, but as with all other cars there are not to many good original cars around and there is still trash on the market where the owner thinks he has gold. Last year I spended 2 weeks looking for Racings in Italy and I saw quite a few cars. A good one, a very acceptable one and a sorry one. The last one not the cheapest and still for sale. Came up also at this forum. Looks decent but..... I made a lot of pictures of course to prove it. After Italy I went further to see even more cars, that's an interesting story I will tell later with pictures I think.

Appologies for my late reaction to this topic, but i really would like to comment on this one.
Being the owner of a 131 Abarth group 4 car and purchasing every kind of information over 25 years, i would like to tell this again to everybody on the forum: A GROUP 4 CAR IS NOT A CONVERTED STRADALE! Not done by the factory anyways. All original factory cars were just shells from the production line. Next to those there were about 400 Stradale's.
So, if you have a converted Stradale, it must be done by privateers.

No comments on the price here. My car is not finished for a long time and should i want to sell it, it will only bring me about 10.000. But when it's finished the price could be around 150.000... Roll Eyes That's in Euro's. But that's relative. It just takes 1 person with enough money and the will to buy any car... Wink

Jonathan, did i miss any pictures here? I would really like to see what you're selling. Smiley

Hi Gents,

In Jonathan's spot I wold not listen to guys that just do the bla, bla bla, showing off their smarts. If you do not like it make am offer - don't criticize the asking price. Follow the oriental tradition of bargaining , not occidental one of bragging...

However , the sale offer offer would be nice to include at least some pictures. Have you put the car together is is it still in parts.

To me an unfinished project (being sold as a set) is worth less than total value of all the parts. I have made a calculation once on this forum showing the cost of rebuilding original Gr4. car. If this is to be done right the cost is outrageous, well exceeding 150.000  Euro

Note that the original cost of a Gr 4 was ca 50.000 US dollars ( back in 1976 !). The unfinished project is just as good as a determination of a maniac (like we all are) to finish it for pleasure - not for profit .

I strongly suggest reading the "Build costs 131 Abarth Replica - guide and experiences"

Re : F***** replicas : I will not trade my replica for a genuine  gr.4  abandoned or unfinished project. Enzo , could not agree with you more.

Miro

I know it will sound like anathema, but braking it up and selling it in pieces would bring you a better price Jonathan. I would certainly be interested in few pricey bits.

What is it with those f****** replica's. You own an original Stradale and trash it into a replica. In my opinion then it is NOTHING anymore Huh

sorry guys but it's not a f****** replica , all Group 4 car's have as base chassis from stradale!

Enzo,

For sure this was not a reaction for Miro!! Both your cars belong to the most realistic and careful built examples. That was for sure not my point. I also don't wanna react like a lot of people do at the forums: talk when you are not interested yourself.
My point here and a lot of times before is that for me it is a pity that good genuine cars are taken apart to make a replica. This is the case with much more makes as only the 131s we are talking about here, for instance with Escorts, Commodores, Ascona's, R5 Turbo's, Alpine A110 Stradale,Lancia Stratos Stradale. For sure the list is much, much longer. I simply cannot believe an original 131 Abarth or Stratos Stradale still is taken to do a repro, even if the repro is the nicest piece you could dream of. That was here again my point. For me it is a pity an original genuine 131 Abarth Stradale is used for a conversion. Of course everybody can do with his car what he want, but that is simply my personal opinion.
I also know from recently that a Racing Volumetrico is taken apart to to a repro, as well as a very good Racing sold for 8K! For me that is incredibly bad news.

I certainly hope so ( Grin)

I do see your point clearly and share at least a grave reservation to turning a genuine Stradale into  a current day Gr4. replica.

However , if I had an original Stradale I would be facing a grave dilema. I would probably keep it , without  making  it into Gr4.  On the other hand I would be awfully tempted to rally it.

It would probably seriously consider gr. B (assuming I would not have to do anything to damage originality of Stradale).

We have to remember that it is good that many of us hold strong views and opinions, and defend them. But we also have to remember that what other do with their property is their own business. Definitely liking it is not an obligation and keeping your mouth shut is not an obligation either.

This what makes the discussion here live and interesting ...

Hi All,

Due to not being able to come to a mutual date that suited all parties, even with ferries being booked, this car is still available.

Please e-mail me at jonathan@group4wheels.com or by phone on 00 44 (0)7971 988 735 if you're interested.

I'm hoping to get some pictures of the car later this week and will post them up, in the mean time here are a couple of the engine sat in my garage.

Regards

Jonathan
