Details of 3ma13 have now been added to the website. Please have a look at the News section for details of 3ma13 and look at the Travel and Accommodation section for the special all inclusive hotel deal.

We must thank Robert and Ingrid for rising to the challenge and taking on the organisation of 3ma13 and for so quickly organising all the details of what promises to be another great 3ma. Robert and Ingrid have already planned all 4 days of 3ma13 and of course negotiated a very special hotel deal for us. I'll let our organisers give you more details.

Thank you very much Robert and Ingrid, I'm very much looking forward to 3ma13 and already started planning the 1200Km drive to Miesbach. I'll probably have an overnight stay somewhere in Northern Germany for the drive there but I need to be back in the UK for the 13th of May so it'll probably mean a very long non-stop drive back on Sunday the 12th  Undecided  Still, there's plenty of time to plan all that.....

Thanks Theo for the introduction and your kind words! We are very happy to make 3MA2013 happen close to (and one half day in) my hometown. There's something for everyone I suppose; at this very moment I cannot reveal everything we are planning, but among other events there will be a visit to the BMW works in Munich, scenic drives around the lakes south of Munich, moderate alpine driving, visiting one of King Ludwig's world famous castles and some other interesting sites, visits to famous beer brewing monasteries and a surprise fun event  Wink

This weekend we finalized the hotel deal (details in the Travel and Accommodation section) and did some reconnaissance driving, finishing two of the four planned trips. Here are some appetizers:

Driving south on the Autobahn (yes, in September the weather is perfect):

Linderhof Castle, one of the Castles King Ludwig II had built (and the one we are planning to visit):

Driving into Austria:

Neuschwanstein Castle, the most famous one, currently undergoing restauration and thus looking like a piece of art by Christo (works to be finished by the end of 2012):

The "Wieskirche", a country church looking insignificant on the outside and mindblowing on the inside (at least if you are not more into modern Bauhaus architecture like me):

The "Museum of Art" (Buchheim Museum) on the Starnberger See, housing a marvelous expressionist art collection:

The best thing to do with a BMW  Grin:

Cattle going home in the afternoon:

Presumably one of the lunch stops:

A private toll road near the Sylvenstein Lake:

Wooden bridge on the toll road:

Lake Walchensee:

The Walchensee  Power Plant, a hydroelectric power plant we are planning to visit:

More pictures to follow in the next weeks.

Another interesting aspect (although I hope we will not need it): just a few hundred meters from the chosen hotel, a friend runs a garage, so technical assistance will be provided if needed.

We are very much looking forward to welcome you in my home country!

Nice pictures. I noticed the Mercedes star managed to make it onto the site in a few places Smiley

I love the area and have been many times before on summer holidays.

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to make it as my new job suffers from the same problem as my old job, no holidays other than in school holidays Angry

Did a reconnaissance trip today for the Mountain Day. As luck would have it, it was the worst day of the week, raining cats and dogs all day long (like it can happen in May sometimes  Grin), but in my opinion a drive that's worth it. Although the car was not best suited for the steep upgrades to be mastered, the Swedish freighter "VascoExpress" performed flawlessly - remember, it has done 260,000 miles up to now  Shocked. Here's the mediocre selection of pictures from a rainy, foggy day in the Alps - in sunshine (or without rain or fog) it's mindblowing! I enjoyed the journey nevertheless, hope all 3MA2013 attendees will do likewise  Smiley

This nice road (Germany's highest) goes up to 1560 m (1700 yd.). If I remember correctly the highest mountain in the UK is 1500 yd. and cannot be conquered behind the wheel of a car  Wink

The view on a clear day would be this:

So planning for 3 of the 4 days is already in the final stage. Hope to supply some better pictures next time  Sad

If the weather is fine looks like a must do event!  Wink

Have you given any thoughts to an alternative in case we are unlucky with the weather Robert? Would we really face into such a challenge if there was nothing to see?

The purchasing of a 131 is very much on the agenda  Smiley. However, as you know there are a few other 'matters' Undecided that need to be finalised  Wink.
