Looks not bad for a RHD. Not sure about the colour its not standard is it?

I am pretty sure it is. Great and scarce combination.

Nice colour.

I think this perhaps belonged to Dai from Wales previously.

As always buyer beware old Fiats  :o

It looks potentially a very nice car  :) ;). Being an 81 X Plate, this must of been one of the last S2 Supers.

The colour I am 99% sure was within the standard range.

The final price will be interesting. I estimate just under ?3,000.

I know this is a bit obvious, but I think whoever is serious about buying this Super needs to take a good hard look prior to bidding. I think that whilst it has a valid MoT you should also consider how long the car has stood idle and that it will need a proper 'shake down' before all of the niggles come to light.

The seller also states that the car has rust bubbling through and that the rear arches aren't that good  ??? Could turn into one heck of a costly car if all of these are put right fully.

I have to say that I'm quite interested myself, although I'm just about to get my Abarth back from Mark after it's annual check over (which means costs  :o) and I'm also sending my Special to him on Thursday for sorting prior to returning to the road, so I'm not sure my Bank Manager would appreciate it if I was to buy another old Fiat ;D ;D

I shall be watching with interest and wish the new owner all the best. 8) I hope it's one of us on here that eventually secures the purchase. ;)

The more I look at it the more I like it ;D ;D It is this type of car that just might make me go off the Sport/Racing idea and go for a Super. Probably wouldn't because if you are going to have the potential hassle and expense of running a 131, you might as well try and get what you really want, which in my case not surprisingly is an Orange Sport/Racing.

I would be very surprised if the one from the Emerald Isle who has recently returned from Southern Italy, hasn't got at least one hand on this one  ;D ;D :o :D

Simon

I didn't realise that Bank Manager's still existed :o :o. I thought it was all faceless call centres  ::)

Rob,

You're probably right. NatWest recently changed their people from 'Personal Banking Managers' to 'Premium Banking Managers' - this is when they literally took the 'Personal' out of banking!!!!! ::)

Simon

Maybe they see you as a Premium Customer and deserve better service  ;D ;D

Can only be a good thing :)

It looks a nice Super, although I would have to change the Front back to Standard S2 Super.

No further bids today and the reserve is not met  :o ;D

Few more decent pictures required and underbody/boot chassis/roof info inc weld repairs etc. Has it got any advisorys.

Would make a nice car as arches, door skins, doors basicaly the whole shell is available.

Don't think it's one of them to be bought and sold on for a profit. You spend the money on her, keep it and enjoy it!

Still at ?2,272. Hasn't moved for a few days. Looks like the best S2 Super I have seen for sale since I got involved with the Forum 2 years ago.

I have been trying to get hold of the seller to go and see the car as its only around 25 miles away from me.........but 2 days have gone and no reply.

I had a look at his ebay feedback and history he has brought items from members on here, like Dave (mirafioriman) and Chris from Ireland.

Albert

I would imagine that it is not a first choice colour for you  ;D ;D

Silver with the Blue Interior perhaps being the preferred option ;D :D ;)

Well the bidding has reached 2500 and the reserve has been met  ;D .......looks like its going to a new home.........question is what will be the final selling bid?

It was 2500 an hour ago now back to 2400.......looks like a withdrawn bid

"The colour I am 99% sure was within the standard range."

I have an old colour chart from 1983 which I know is a couple of years after his car was built, colour 191 Nearco Red is listed as an option for the 131.

Winning Bid ?2,750. You can identify yourself now ...131.

Reading to Fishguard should be a nice run to catch the ferry to Ireland.

I guess this was a poorly kept secret but yes I'm the new owner.  :)

Picked it up yesterday and it's now resting in Simon's warm & comfy garage awaiting pick up from a car transport firm. Seller was very upfront about everything and although the car needs work it looks like a good project. Pics later...from a day where we saw 5 131s...!  :)

First of all a big thanks to my very good friend Simon131 who provided overnight accommadation and temporary car storage along with ferrying to/from the train station..and Reading. Oh and a hearty cooked breakfast from Wendy. Believe me Si, having your help made the whole business so much easier and pleasant compared with any previous foreign trips to buy a car. And the craic we had afterwards in the garage left a big smile on my face...as did the power delivery of your very capable 535d!!!  ;)

First impressions of the 131 are that the engine, gearbox and back axle all felt and sounded good and about right for the recorded mileage of 62000 miles. Everything worked and the car didn't mis-behave other than a pull to the left probably linked with poor wheel alignment. Brakes had a high pedal and pulled the car up straight - The front suspension felt tight following the previous owner's improvements although the rear probably could do with new shocks.

There are some rust areas, one particularly notable in the boot rain channel. The rest appear to be scabs but they will all be investigated. The paintwork looks OK in the pics but in fairness will need a complete paint job in time. The headlining is a bit diapppointing in that it is sagging everywhere with a cigarette burn in one place. To be expected I guess after 31 years.... The seats are remarkably good although the driver's seat is missing a securing bolt.

Plans are to get it mechanically assessed for anything that needs doing - I want the car driving perfectly with all the usual fail areas such as pumps, belts, hoses etc all renewed. Then I'll tackle the body.

Other plans are to convert back to standard grill/headlamps...and I'm toying with the idea of adding a set of extra round spotlamps above the bumper...A lot of Supers had this mod in Ireland and I like the look - I'll think that one over.  :)

If anyone has a brand new RHD offside rectangular headlamp for sale I'm very interested please. I also need the rear nearside brown trim that clamps the carpet in place where it meets the cill. Current one is broken. Also a new twin tone Fiat horn. The standard one is weedy.

Where body parts are concerned, I definitely want a drivers side rear quarter panel.

If available at reasonable prices, I'd also like a new bonnet, boot lid, S2 rear panel and both front doors.

I'll keep progress updated on a new project thread in due course.  :)

Interesting design though - I believe they came from Malta....

Those wheels weren't to my taste either.

I would revert to the square headlamps too if it was me ;)

Looking forward to seeing its progress. Will it be going to Holland/Germany in a week or two? 8)

Kev,

I had a superb Saturday 'playing 131s' with you, mate! ;D It was my pleasure to have you stay - no-one else quite understands my '131 disease', unless like you, they share it! :o 8) :D.

Your new Super looks great behind my Abarth. The Abarth doesn't like sitting all alone in the garage without her Special best friend  ;D so your Super is helping ease her loneliness until Special returns home - or is it just me? ;) :D

I love 131s - whoever owns them - and I'm pleased to be able to help you out during your purchase and repatriation of the Super. Can't wait to see it back to full health and in full use. 8)

Well done, Kevin. Best version of a regular 131 one can drive.
I like your idea of putting back the original grille and headlights. Also keep the original wheels and please don't exchange them for anything else.

This first version of the Supermirafiori doesn't need anything more...she's got the best looks of them all  :)

Yes I agree Mike - It had a dignified but sporty look to the car that I've not seen replicated since. Standard lights. grill and wheels it will be.  :)
