Title: Anti roll bar rubbers
Post by: parrish on May 17, 2009, 05:14:16 AM
My anti roll bar to bottom suspension arm bushes are worn.
These are the bushes that compress either side of the control arm and are located at the end of the roll bar 2 per side.
Does anyone know where i can get new ones?
Does anyone have a part Number?
Yagmur? can you supply?
Regards
Steve

This might sound like 'sleeping with the enemy' but try Ford Escort Mark 2 bushes. I had all the bushes and rubbers on my Abarth replaced when it had it's winter lay over a couple of years ago and most were replaced with Ford equivalent. Whilst they might need a little bit of modification to fit properly they'll certainly do the job. ;)

If you can get the Ford ones to fit that means you could get poly ones which are readily available for the Escort.

You can get new polyurethane anti rool bar bushes from  www.racecar.co.uk/superflex

Interesting they list a few bushes for the 131. They are listed for 76-78 only though. Did the bushes change or will these actually fit all 131s?

I used to have 78 super and thats the same as sport so I think their listing is wrong, they also do universal ones for anti roll bar to track control arms which is the part his looking for

Hey , I just got several pairs for 3 euro a piece today !

If anybody is interested I can still get them here. They were the same as for Polonez , that's why they are still available in Poland!

Miro

PS watch out for the poly- I heard about some guys who did not realize polys were much harder than rubber and damaged their chasis (something had to give ... LOL...)

i  installed poly bushes on my lada's rear control arms several days ago and guess what happened? control arms snapped after 5 minutes of driving! took them off again and re-welded original welds that cracked. i just wander what's gonna crack next? rear chasis legs?

In the UK many, many Fords run poly bushes and I have never heard of this type of problem. The better UK suppliers, however, supply poly bushes that are still quite soft. Perhaps some manufacturers produce bushes which are too hard and this is the cause of the problem?

as far as i can rember mk2 escort rubbers are 1 for each side whare the 131
is 2 rubbers each side so wich 2 make them fit you would have 2 cut them in half
superflex only stock the rubbers for the antiroolbar and not the arm
that parrish and myself are looking for

Superflex sell what they advertise as 'Pin Bushes' Universal Shock absorber and ARB Link Pin Bushes. The catalogue contains a lot of different shapes and sizes, im wondering if any of these couls be modified?
Measurements would need to be taken of an original 131 bush in good unused condition (which i dont have).
Could anyone give me the dimensions and or compare the one they have with those available in the following link.

Yagmur,

Are these OEM ?

I need two sets but would like to go for quality original OEM if possible and non-poly , just straight rubber.

Miro

Yagmur and Guys,

I installed my rubbers before Tychy race - about one month ago and since than I drove one event plus 700 km of road. Today the bushed fell of the bar !

I mean fell off !!

When braking there was a sudden hit of a heavy hammer against the left front suspension which quickly moved to the right front suspension . It sounded like the competitors send a saboteur mechanic who hooked up to to my front suspension and started his sabotage!

I will tell you this : YOU NEVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE IT !?

Lesson learned: NEVER use cheap replacement parts that almost fit!!!

Yagmur I want 4 sets ( 8 pieces !!!)

If you also have other rubber parts for the suspension, etc let me know I will buy them all.? ?

 ;D

had the same problem with almost any car i've seviced past 5 yrs. it's getting impossible to find good quality replacement parts. i've had ball joints fall out after 10k kms, 3rd time i've changed front silent blocks on my lada for 5k kms... same thing with fiat, lada or ford parts. i've tryed "italian" parts but seems that they all come from china or somebody's basement... if you do find good parts, please report

Track control arm to crossmember bushes?

Title: Re: Anti roll bar rubbers
Post by: sid131 on July 01, 2009, 10:33:38 PM
the red circled ones are the anti roll bar to track control arm bushes, you just have to knock out the plastic middle bush on the arm & fit the new tofas ones, i have all these & they are perfect fit, so no more asking about them, just buy them & get on with it!
