Kevin once said that he would like to see Simon's Stradale go head to head with my slightly modified Sport and his wish could have almost come true today if he was at Goodwood  Wink

Simon and I accepted an invitation from Goodwood to attend a half day trackday at the famous circuit today. Alan Brewer was hired by Goodwood last July as their  Motor Circuit Event Manager and given the task of keeping the circuit booked for activities at all times except during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. So very nice man Alan has invited a number of people, in what was Goodwood's first ever Car Club Day, to show them the facilities at the circuit and to allow them to drive their cars on the circuit. So Simon and I met very early this morning for a very picturesque (thanks to my rather silly Sat Nav  Undecided) drive through snow covered country roads to the Goodwood circuit. And the reason I said almost above is because with just 5 cars on the track at any one time, Simon and I didn't manage to be on the track at the same time. But even if we had managed it, the weather was so wet and there was so much standing water around that we couldn't use the full potential of the track or our cars. But it was great fun  Grin and I wanted more when the marshals finally closed the circuit due to heavy rain  Embarrassed The advantage of being on the track at different times to Simon was that I could take photos of Simon's Stradale on the track. I only took a small camera with me so the photos don't do the car justice but believe me it looked great and sounded fantastic down the pit straight  Grin

Brilliant. And I'm jealous. It's a pity about the weather but a good experience I'd say nonetheless.  Cool
Nice one.

That comment was a long time ago Theo - I must note how good a memory you have!!  Wink

Looks like it was good fun. I think the Guy Croft engine would have won on the straights while the Abarth would have had the advantage on the bends.

It would have been nice to have my orange Sport there too as I'm sure it would also have blown away the 16V on the straights.  Wink

What were the rules for participating Theo?

I can see the helmets....and the tape on your headlights...but not on the other cars.

Seeing that tape brought back boyhood memories of Motor racing in Ireland - Minis, Imps, Escorts and Avengers all sporting that tape back in the day.... Smiley

Standard trackday rules which meant helmets, covered arms and legs, and a noise limit of 105db. I was surprised that my car was just 91db which means it can even run on a Sunday at Goodwood when they have a 96db limit. Taped headlamps was a rule stipulation but not many had this and the marshals were obviously not very strict. Admittedly some of the modern cars had shaped polycarbonate light lenses rather than round glass and I suspect there's no need to tape them. The red MGA with standard round headlamps seen in one of the photos above had tape on its headlamps and some other cars had it too.

Great photos, 131's look really good on the track. Shame about the crappy weather, but you still had fun Wink
