hi guys is it difficult to fit a power steering to my 131 sport?i have the pump and pipes of a fiat 132,but i don t have the rack and pinion.

no problem to fit it but you will need steering rack and steering shaft as it is different. I am not sure if the brackets for steering rack are different but as far as i remember they are.

The crossmember is different too, as recently I sold one from a car with power to a man who fitted it to his sport. He had to modify the brackets on the crossmember.

I converted my 131 1600 CL into a 131 2 litre with power steering and it is a simple bolt on task if you have all the parts. Try to get the rack and crossmember together if possible along with the lower part of the column as Walezy said.

just a thought see if its easier to fit the electric power steering from a corsa. there's a picture of it on that red 131 for sale in italy mentioned in one of the other topics on this site. ive fitted them in the past set aside the problems of getting the rack to fit if you dont have the right crossmember, my biggest problem was always trying to fit the pulley that drives the power steering pump, if the engine is still in the car.
