Not been for a quite a few years :

Great thanks and congrats to the 12,400 petition signers organised by Save The Brighton Speed Trials, and the Facebook likes page plus celebrities, and public support ..... it all worked for the event and Brighton and Hove Motor Club (BHMC) ...... so the Speed Trials will take place on 6th September..... After the council's Economic Development and Culture Committee voted unanimously to allow the event to continue

They have been granted an initial three year continuation with subsequent review.

Tony Watts of BHMC said "We are thrilled to be able to now start the planning of the 2014 Brighton Speed Trial and the subsequent two years events. With the support we have had this year promises to be the best Speed Trials yet."

Organisation of the event is not due to change much for spectators - there are some safety changes at the finish line.
Spectator Tickets are only available on the day. Most of the event on the prom can be viewed for free.
Thousands will attend this day out to watch the action on Madeira Drive that can be viewed from the main road above.

For competitors you are advised to arrive early, and the Speed Trials start early. 7am is a good target for signing on, fitting timing strut, scrutineering, etc. Competitors' with trailers will need to off-load and park early. Tow cars must be left at the end of Madeira Drive in the car park, and sealed off until the end of the day.

Practice starts at 9am (not timed) but the public can get through the gates from about 8am.
At this time of day its less crowded - to walk the paddock... then timed runs will begin at 11am.
Approximate times will be:
7.30am - Signing on begins
9.00am - 10.30am - Practice
11.00am - 11.30am 1st Timed Runs
1.00pm - 1.50pm - Lunch Break
2.00pm - Timed Runs continue
6.00pm - Action Ends
