First gear take off vibration

Just bought my new 131 sport 3 weeks ago after 10 years of dreaming.She is now in Scotland.I have a very quick sharp vibration in first gear only on quick take off.I have spoken to a few old time local mechanics an been told off two possibles 1. The centre bearing. 2.oil on the clutch and told to ride clutch on a hill in 4th gear to burn off the oil.
Any other ideas guys...

pressure plate is fkd, replace the whole set up with genuine parts & it will be cured, i had the same problem on Fib & a corolla in the past same problem on both

The centre bearing (or its rubber mount) is a common cause, worth checking. Much easier to fix than the clutch which will probably need the rear main seal replacing to effect a permanent fix.

The centre bearings sometimes pop up on ebay as do clutches but hopefully you won't need one of those

I would say inspect the rubber coupling on the box to prop. Mine was doing the same as it had gone soft.

If you had oil on the clutch plate, you would expect to get clutch slip under load in various gears. Slipping the clutch in fourth sounds like a good way to burn out what is left of the clutch, also it won't cure what is causing the oil to leak onto the clutch in the first place.

It is worth checking that the engine / gearbox mounts are not worn as they can cause a judder on hard take up of drive, more likely though is tha t the clutch bearing & clutch assembly are wearing.

Personly I would not muck about changing bits if you are going to all of the effort of taking out the gearbox you may as well replace the complete clutch assembly, and while you are there check the rear main oil seal for any signs of leaks.
