Looking at the map tonight it looks like we can have a new route invovling Sheep's Head and Mizen Head ....rather than retracing the steps of previous years. Unless anyone knows why we should avoid these routes (eg roadworks etc) I'd like to suggest that we have some different scenery and roads. I'll have handouts of the following on the day.

Fri 28th

?   Arrive at hotel and registration. Note dedicated parking area for Fiats.
?   Fill up with petrol for departure next day
?   Dinner at 7.30 pm
?   Socialise

Sat 29th   Depart 10.30

Leave hotel heading south towards Bantry.
?   Head out of Bantry on the N71 signposted Skibbereen
?   Approx 2/4 miles beyond Bantry turn right for Sheep?s head. Follow signs for Glenlough and Ballyroon where we will stop to stretch our legs.
?   Return via Kilcrohane, Anakista to Durrus.
?   At Durras turn right for Mizen Head. (R591)
?   Head for Toormore, Goleen and Crookhaven where we will stop again for a break and hopefully a cup of tea.
?   Return home via Schull and Ballydehob (R592).
?   At Ballydehob take the main road (N71) back to Bantry and Glengarriff.
?   Dinner at 8.0pm
?   Socialise (live music at the hotel)

Sun 30th
               Breakfast
?   Use of hotel facilities
?   Depart for home

A few suggestions to help ensure the event runs smoothly:

Please fill up with petrol on Friday night. This will avoid Saturday morning queues at petrol stations and cars getting left behind.
Bring a map of the area so that separated cars can catch up with the main group. We generally play follow the leader but it's difficult to keep a long convoy altogether all of the time.
Have some mobile phone numbers for fellow participants in case of trouble.  Smiley

Well the All Ireland Classic Fiat Event is over for another year and 2012 was our most successful event ever judged by the number of cars attending. Our previous record from 2010 of 20 cars was beaten by 3 although 3 of the attendees were linked with Fiat rather than actually being Fiats. See if you can spot all three from the pictures. Smiley

Big welcome to our first timers with special mention to the X1-9 group, our first Fiat Dino, our first Ritmo Abarth...and our first attendees from Hungary (Johnny, Atilla and Gabor). We also had some first time cars from regular attendees. Steve's very special Fiat 132 2000 recently imported from Croatia is probably the best 132 in Ireland now. A one owner (Doctor) car recently re-commissioned and now getting a new lease of life. Two tone paint jobs on X1-9s are nothing new and Mike honoured the event with his special beige (sorry gold) and primer special edition. Grin

The hotel looked after us very well with our specially cordoned off area for parking, great food, a very friendly service and bar staff that kept serving into the small hours. They are really set up well to handle groups like ours.

The Saturday drive to Sheep's head (group photo) and later Mizen head (Ireland's most southerly point) were blessed with one of the best weather days of the year with spectacular views, colour and visibility. The day's timings worked out great and got us back to the hotel on time for the Munster rugby match, beers and another tasty dinner. Smiley
