Title: 131 Rear Axle
Post by: mick131 on April 20, 2007, 12:08:28 PM
Hi all,

Does anyone out there have a spare 131 rear axle that they dont need ? or know where I can get one ?, I live in West Yorkshire, just off J26 of the M62.

I'm looking into building an IRS back axle for my own car and would like to have something to " play around with " rather than cabbage the only one I have !!.

Any help would as always be greatly appreciated

Mick.

Try to get BMW rear diff, this will work good with IRS and LSD diffs are easily available.
P.S. I see that the photos you got gave you some idea about rear suspension :)

Hi Tomasz....you are everywhere !!.

Yeah they did thanks, as I said in the e-mail they will be very useful for fabrications etc. I would like to keep everything Italian if possible though.

There is a Lancia specialist not too far away and I was thinking of having a look at the suspension set up on an Integrale to see what that was like....any thoughts ??.

I had an integrale few years ago and the rear suspension is different than 131 but you could easily use integrale front suspension. The rear hubs in intergale have have double "wishbone" setup with control arm. Also integrale diff has a main ratio of something around 3,2 which is way to long for N/A car. Also i broke the diff once in my lancia but it had 1,8bar boost so i was a bit more powerfull than standard.

Hi Yagmur,

Thanks for that, I may need to contact you about some bits of trim that I need. I have got to put together a list yet, so as soon as I do I'll mail you.

Thanks again Tomasz,

Seems that BMW could be the way to go, have a few days off next week so may go diff hunting then.

Speak to you later

Hi Andy thanks for you reply,

I'm not too sure what to do really. as I mentioned before I would like to keep as much as poss Italian, as I have been recently quoted ?1300 plus for an LSD, so I think I may have to search for alternatives ie BMW.

By the way do you have a front screen rubber for the Sport going begging, one without the metal insert ?.

Cheers.

Hi Mick,

If memory serves me, Andy C's Abarth Replica has a BMW IRS set up, as installed by Guy Moerenhout in Belgium.

Andy - do you know what the specs are?

Simon

Cheers Simon / Andy,

Andy, is yours an E31 unit and what other components did you use ie driveshafts / hubs / links etc ?. Any info would be welcome.

Thanks for the input.

Mick
