Forum member SPORTMAN has had his Abarth Group 4 16-valve head stolen. The head was fully refurbished with new cam boxes, new cams and new cam holders. He has sent in via email the photos below and he is asking forum members to contact him if they come across this head or if they see it advertised for sale anywhere.

Theo,

Can you tell us where Sportman is from? (Town and Country) This may assist - in case it does come up for sale. Wink

How long ago was it stolen?

Were there any distinguishing marks or numbers unique to the Head?

One saving grace is that these heads don't come up for sale all that often and the market is pretty small so we should see it if it does come up on the open market, however because the market is so 'select' it could have been stolen to order in which case we'll never see it Undecided

We'll keep our collective eyes open all the same. Smiley

Cheers

just hope it doesn't end up as scrap metal. i've had a couple 131 gearboxes stolen from my yard last year and i believe that only reason was to be sold to scrap metal.

I would say this was stolen for what it is or to order & the owner probably knows who it was, as in knows him or her not know that they have it!

I believe SPORTMAN is based in Belgium. I don't know any more than what's stated above so I can't answer any of the other questions.

I agree with nicks comment, the person who stole this must have been shown round by the owner or be the friend of someone who has been shown round as an average thief would not take the head as he would have no idea of its value...

I reckon so David a mate of mine got his snap on tool box full of tools stolen at xmas over 8 grands worth of tools & a 2 grand customised box, it had to be someone who knew they were there & had to be in his garage at sometime & he is still fuming as the insurance wont pay out because he is a spark & they reckon that the tools were for his work, they were tools for his passion & love his twincam corollas, believe it or not he has almost replaced all that were stolen at his own expense!
