Blimey! How much? 43,000 euros and it's not mint! Does this one sound a little expensive to anyone else, or is this what they go for now? I know that our Belgian friend (and I don't me Hercule Poirot!) has two available at the moment for slightly more than this price but they do appear to be mint examples - although they have been caned around by him in certain off road events of late so might not be in quite such good condition as when he got them in!

Hi simon, 43,000 yoyos is a lot a dosh, but its only ?28,666.66p sterling , and thats just 57 trips to the N.E.C show in Birmingham(Incl. Rocket Club ) and about the same as 10 famaily holidays breaks for 2 weeks in portugal.All things considered,its a lot of money and for how much exclusivity? Can you give me production figures on all 131s cos its the only way i can get my head around the various 131 pricing game. If this type of machine is making big money,surely this will bring up the value of all 131s to some extent? For example, whats a replica abarth worth?To finish off,all i can say is, if i had that kind of money to splash, i d buy in a hearbeat.

Got to say that, to some extent, I agree with both of the above but it is still a lot of money. I guess it depends on the exact condition of it.

Just out of interest what would the Forum members pay for an Abarth / replica in reasonable condition ?.

I am wrong to think that is an 8 valve inlet manifold no twin carbs and does the timing cover look very wide as in it is not running the smaller abarth cam pulleys

It's definitely a 16v, just with painted cam covers. Check out the bolt fixings around the circumferance of the covers - the 8v covers usually have just two allen bolts to hold them down, the 16v unit has numerous smaller bolts.

Cam wheel/belt cover looks fine - metal as opposed plastic, with a metal back plate which in combination virtually enclose the timing belt.

The single carb is exactly how they came out of the factory - twin carbs were an option that lots have, but a fair few left the factory with just one - same as mine (The rated 140 bhp is based on a single carb configuration).

Lots of giveaways in the single engine pic - most notably the exhaust cam dizzy, but also look at the body - two bonnet catches - an alteration that most replica builders overlook

as an indicator, a good abarth rep in ireland can fetch 9000euro
i know of one, but sports are making 5/9000 euro aswell .

Does anyone know what distributor the Fiat Abarth 16 valve engine uses?  Can a standard distributor be used? I have heard that the dist drive gear is unique to the Abarth 16 valve head. Anyone know where to gear such a dist gear?
It looks like the Stradle does not have a remote "Abarth combat shifter". The gear lever is way forward. Is this the way the Stradle's came? Does anyone have a better picture of the center console surrounding the shifter?

Don't know about the Abarth but some 124's used an exhaust mounted dizzy, I've got one..see below

You can just make out the drive gear on the cam by the last cam lobe...



The Haynes manual says the make is Magneti Marelli S124A or 124B for the 124 but mine has S144 stamped on it  .
