As most of you know, my car has a habit of discarding its rear silencer during the 3ma  Shocked I had to drive back from Scotland without one in 2008 and again in 2009 I drove half way though France without a rear silencer. During a resent dyno run (during the sound recordings) I found that my car is lacking about 20 - 30 bhp and I am sure that's down to the pee-shooter 1" pipe rear exhaust bought as a temporary fix off ebay. I still have a Janspeed 4-2-1 manifold and downpipe but at the moment that feeds into a standard (for a 1300 I think) 1" pipe middle and rear exhaust. So fitting a custom 2" system is currently on the top of my list of things to do before 3ma10. So could any of you with the knowledge post some links  of exhaust places that could provide a descent custom exhaust system in the new "Connections" section? I know of RSR in Bromley and they'll probably be my first try but if you know of or even better have experience of any suppliers in the South-east UK please let us all know.

hi theo
had the same problem on my seicento  last month 2", 50mm  stainless janspeed at the back welded to a
34mm front pipe with flexy,
there a place near me and marks just north of the a127 but they wanted ?100 pound for front flexy , so
cheapy me bought an 8'ft  universal flexy 51mm id  from the motorfactors and made my own , and she fly's up the rev range
 they were viper exhausts

Hi ,

I would use  50 mm pipe and George Polley big bore AX891 silencer,. Worked fine for me.

Use of flexy is a must to avoid vibes that tend o make exhaust pipes cracks ( mostly at pipe welding). I used to have constant problem with pipe exiting the first silencer braking off at the least opportune moment. Flexy resolved this problem, completely.

Yes, 50mm is close enough to 2 inches and that's what I am planning. I've always been told that a rule of thumb is that you need an inch per 100bhp so 2 inches should be plenty for my engine.

Why a flexi on a 131? Since when do in-line engined rear wheel drive cars like the 131 need a flexi?  Huh  I thought they were for transverse mounted engines only.   Undecided Huh
