Today I visited a friend and he offered me his car. To be honest I didn't expect it to happen but I bought a MB before 40 :)

I am looking for another lover to keep the car in the stunning condition it is now.
MB280S W116, totally original and unmolested, NO rust at all!
55700 kms, citrusgreen metallic with tinted windows, otherwise only a Becker radio. Otherwise the car is MINT in and out(For the people who saw it, like my Supermira Volumetrico ;D

She was with me Kevin, actually she helped me decide to buy it.
I hope to find another friend to keep this car as it is now, because Mercs are not really my first love but this one................. It is just like new!

Congratulations Albert. Great looking car and even the colour suits it very well. I am sure you'll keep it in the pristine condition that it is or even improve it if possible. So that's another make of car we have the same because I too have a Mercedes but you bought the wrong model Albert, mine is a C220 CDI Sport Coupe  ;D

Now I have seen it! Not a common colour. A very nice example though. I really like these although personally I prefer LWB autos, not that I have any money or space for any more cars at the moment!

Condition is definitely a much more important thing to consider when buying than colour and spec. These Mercedes just like Fiats know how to rust, although I found bodywork welding to generally be easier as they seem to be made of thicker steel.

I do think a visit to the Nederlands to see some of your fleet of cars may have to be considered at some time.

God I even had one of them as a tow car but it was the 280 se model but I hated it that much the only pleasure I had was ramming the auto-box back into 1st at 50 mph, how that engine screamed in pain  :o :o but Albert she is a clean looking lump of a car ;D ;D, well wrecking the engine was part of this unknown thing called "the Irish sense of humour ::) ::)"

Well thats what I mean it can be a hard to understand thing even for folk in the "Real Capital" as I was in knots laughing at this well engineered car begging for mercy where a Fiat would give out for not revving enough  :-\ :-\

sorry Albert but i think "pure dung" we had one of these for smuggeling years ago but was good for F all, then along came the rover v8 sdi now thats a different story

the sdi also leaks like a sive and rusts worse than any fiat..............

Jaysus no up the hill! just the back roads flat out mostly no lights on & her screaming & with a cracked block patched with isopon, not acgreat car i admit but did the trick at the time, if you had one of those mercedes dunkels you would get caught!!

I hope the isopon is heat proof but sure back then was Haughey not using a Merc to bring back his own gear....

well she only cost ?200 punt & she earned her keep, she ended her life in stockcar banger racing how it kept going bubbleing all the time flat out!!

Just because you may not like Mercs there is no need to be rude about another members car. Albert is a true enthusiast with some lovely cars and if he chooses to add another to his collection whatever it is good for him.

There appear to be too many people on here at the moment being negative towards others. By all means express your opinion but we should try to consider others feelings.

Spot on Eugene your right there alot of condescending people who often say that cars are not worth what they are looking for. As for me not liking Mercs they may not be my cup of tea but Alberts is a clean one but if I had a contempt for Mercs I would have cut my s class up for parts rather then basically give it to a local lad who had a passion and wanted to restore it to its glory  ;D ;D

Shes a nice beast albert. My opinion is any car in that condition is worth looking after. And that goes for any car from a rolls to a lada!!! Good luck with her. :)

That is 131nz I agree no matter what car someone has and even what condition it is in if they enjoy it that is all that matters in the end as once there are real car lovers who help to protect and preserve what ever marque they are into ;) ;)

When I bought my orange Racing a lot of people told me to bring it to the scrapyard, it had rust and above that, that horrible colour ;D
As I can believe the stories a MB Gullwing was completely out in the mid 60s and almost impossible to even give away.
The W116 isn't up to everybodies taste, not even up to mine to be honest, but this car is so truly nice, unmolested and original that I just had to take it. I hope to find another lover who understands what is a nice car. And with nice I don't mean the make but the perfect condition of it. And yes that can be a Lada, a Toyota or a Rolls Royce. That doesn't matter at all.

Well Albert she looked well in the garage area but with the sun on her she looks even better there but as far as I know my old one is alive and restored as with the gearbox the way it was when I got you had to abuse it unfortunately as she kept kicking up and down the box but the engine did take it well....
