My next project......

Just got back from a major road trip shopping for Fiat parts. This time it was bits for the 130. Hired a van, got let down by Enterprise, then got bailed out by National at short notice. This meant I did not get away until about 9:30 on Saturday morning and it all felt a bit rushed. First stop was in Essex near Southend, then I got back as far as Birmingham where I decided to stop overnight as by this time I had already driven 520 miles which was enough for one day. This morning I set off at about 8:00 and headed to a scrapyard in Wigan (or so I thought). Eventually found it in Haydock after finding some very helpful chaps in a stone business who let me use their local phone book. On the way back the inside of the van looked like this:

The spoils consisted of four good used doors with glass, four external door handles, a reversing light, a front and rear screen and a 130 Coupe interior in blue consisting of seats, carpets and some trims. I also picked up an instrument cluster and some badges.

The seats need a damn good clean (don't they always!) but are in very pleasing condition having come out of a car which had done only 50,000 miles. At least thats what the dash shows? Grin

Here is a picture of the front seats after a quick hoover, more to follow when they are clean....

They were covered in glass shards as the front screen had been smashed, but at least the hoover got rid of that. The carpets I did not get photos of, but as the car had been sitting in a scrapyard for some time you can guess the state they are in. The hot pressure washer will be brought into action for those!

Before anybody comments I know the saloon and coupe seats are different, but I am planning to 'make the rears fit'. I much prefer the design and material of the coupe seats and the blue velour should look nice with the metallic blue paint.

Yes you are indeed correct, I remember the A127 well. Whats the score with the 'Low Emission Zone'? I noticed the signs. It all became a bit of a last minute rushed thing, partly due to the fact that the van hire company let me down and I had to find another van at short notice.  Angry
