As pure as a 131 can be.... :) Now, that would be something. A basic 131 fitted with a 2000 TC engine. Everything else standard. ;D

Yeah, how about that. Invisible from the outside. The "1300"-badges on the side. But a beast under the bonnet... ;)

I am not a fan of any OHV or OHC engine in a 131, I would TC a CL 131 if I had it ;D

My dad had one in South Norwood in the 80's.....900T I think it was. Got it cheap, fixed it up and sold it on. Only thing I can remember is it felt like days coming up to Derby in it. Bought and sold a few 131 Specials too.....if only we could buy them back in that condition :(

Guys,

Having read the advert again - my understanding is that the the original engine, gearbox and interior have been removed from this car and an untested TC engine has yet to be installed along with the/an interior. Makes a good Q-car perhaps but not without some quite extensive investment.

This car has been on and off various sites 'For Sale' for at least 6 months. I was interested in it myself when it first came up, but then it was still a complete 1300 Basic - now it looks like it's been played with. ::) A great shame  :-\

Dave and Chris - some of us do like Series 1 cars and do like the very simple and bomb-proof OHV engines, even if they don't excite everyone, as without them there would have been nothing further to develop.  ;)

No Camping Holidays in it Rob...i don't think we kept it that long.

Thanks for posting the Camper Van bit.....I am now a mission now to find old photo's of Fiats in our house.  ;)

OHV engines are brilliant, mine has a Fast road red powder coated Rocker Cover. ;D ;D

I was amazed how fast Heini's 1300 Familiare was down the Autobahn  :)

Dear Simon where have you seen this car advertised on and off for at least 6 months?
The car was advertised once on Retro Rides for few days when it was all up and running and roadworthy.
I took the advert of as the original 1300 engine developed a problem, that is also the reason why it was removed from the car together with the 4sp box.
As I couldn`t get the parts for it anywhere I decided a twin cam would be a better option.
The idea was the same as the guys mentioned above, to have a real sleeper car.

Only the seats and the carpet were removed from the interior, but they are all there to go with it, as is the original engine and gearbox. Nothing has been modified, cup up, or "played" with as you say.
When I bought the TC engine and box I was told it was completely rebuilt and it does look that way.

Some people on here are very quick to make assumptions, draw they own conclusions and state things they are not even true.

Anyway it looks like is sold now and will be used for banger racing. Should make all of you very happy.

 Ladislav.

Ladislav,

I am very careful about drawing assumptions and have stated what I believe to be the truth. I have seen the car advertised on the internet, perhaps Retro Rides, by someone (not you? Photos looked similar) in Kent at the end of last summer, then it disappeared - this is 'on and off' and last summer was almost 6 month ago - both of these are facts.

I cannot ever remember seeing you ask for assistance in tracing 1300 ohv engine parts on this forum - or am I mistaken?

The car has by your own admission had numerous items removed, including the engine, seats and carpet and now it sits without any fitted. Taking a 1300 ohv engine out with the intention of installing a 2000TC engine sounds like it's been (or going to be) modified to me!

Some people might be very quick to make assumptions and say things that are not true - I am not one of them! If you knew me at all you'd know that.

Congratulations on the sale.

Hey you guys, try not to get in a fight here  ;)

I have a question. How on earth could a 1300 engine give any trouble? I mean, when well serviced it will live forever. Same counts for every Fiat engine from the 70's.
It seems to me the car was to be modified for something else than regular use. Or am i mistaken?

My Dads late 1978 S2 1300CL OHV engine had to have the replaced in 1986 it was a low miles 2 owner car well looked after. I was only 3 at time so don't know what happened and Dad said it was something internal and the engine could not be fixed. I can remember picking it up from the garage after the engine was replaced. It was the only Fiat that Dad had the broke down on the side of the road, I can remember this too seating in the back seat ! Maybe this is why I don't like Them ???

Do i understand this right? Because your father once had a problem of some kind with a similair engine you have taken out yours? So there is nothing wrong with the one in this car?  :o ??? ??? ???

The guy selling this S1 says that he had a problem with the engine and I just said that we had a problem with a 1300 OHV engine too.

I have drove all types of Fiats over the years and have owned Fiat's for many years. I am a TC man and all my 131 will be TC. I did try really hard to like other Fiat engines & I did drive 5000 miles in my OHC Auto 131 to try and make me like but it didn't work.

I will always say what I think about something, we can't all like the same things. If someone has a old 131 and wants to change the engine as I am with my 131 " it's their car and they can do what they want with it "
 ;)

Now that could be a good reason, yes. I understand now and i feel the same. There is nothing like a TC. :)
