Title: New Year meet - The Wheatsheaf, Midhurst, West Sussex
Post by: simon131 on December 07, 2015, 08:08:42 AM
Hi Guys,

In an attempt to get things started early in 2016, I am proposing to hold a get-together early in the New Year - date to be decided (prob January or early February), but will be a Sunday lunchtime - at The Wheatsheaf, Midhurst, West Sussex, where we have met in the past.

Please let me know whether you'd like to join us so that I can try to book a table/space for us all together.

Cheers for now

You'd drive all the way to Bristol for the day Jason, which is further than Midhurst, just to park on your own in a City street. At least if you come to Midhurst you'll be there with some 131-ers!  ;D Besides, Phil and Tansy did it last year and their journey was longer than yours would be. It's up to you mate - would be good to see you and Lin but understand it's a long way. :P

I can do 17 or 31 January, like Theo if we're given a choice I would prefer 17 January.

Table for 14 (which includes Jason and Lynne) booked for 12.30 on Sunday 17th January.

The Landlady has asked that if we are all going to choose something off of the 'a la carte' menu, rather than the Sunday Roast - which is absolutely superb, I've had it there at least twice and will have it again! ;D - there could be a delay of up to an hour before the food is delivered to the table. There is always a choice of Roasts too - so if you could let me know what you are likely to chose then I can let the kitchen know in advance. A few non-roasts won't cause too much of a delay but if we all decide to go down that route it could do.....just letting people know up front.

Unfortunately I don't have an a la carte menu to scan up here - it'll mean a 70 mile round trip.

The pub has no car park of it's own but there is a huge council car park at the north end of the town, which is free provided you enter your reg number into the machine and display a ticket.

If anyone want's specific directions please PM me. I'll be in the car park before 12 noon probably as Midhurst is a lovely town to mooch through with a couple of great tea and cakes cafes!! Well worth getting there early for. 8)

Cheers guys.
