Title: Winter tyre
Post by: Henk on October 25, 2011, 03:59:04 PM
Hi all

I am considering a set of wintertyres for the 131
does anyone know if there is a  more modern (steel) wheelrim which fits the 131 (I want to have a second set)
current size is 4.5J x 13 inch
Did not measure ET Offset etc. sofar but maybe someone knows already what will fit.

regards
Henk

Hi,
I was trying an MK1 punto 13" alloy wheels on my 131, so i think even the steels would fit. The ET will be a bit wrong for 131 for sure, but as the brakes are same it should fit.

OK, MK 1 is the model upto 1999 (176), right?
I can get new steel ones from my supplier, I think I will try this.

Thanks
Henk

one more question, maybe somebody knows.....
for the punto rims they say 4,5B instead of 4,5J
I heard this means the "rimbed shape"is different. (I am not sure this is correct english but it is the seat of the tyre edge, I guess)
anyone knows what the difference is? I can not find it on the internet

regards
Henk

I took Panda steel rims 5Jx13 with 155-80R13 Viking snowtyre
ET is 35 mm (I measured 29 at the Orig. Rims, should not cause problems and if so it might be resolved with spacers...)
going to put these on the car this saturday

Henk, i have a mk1 punto as a daily driver and a year or two ago I put a set of 131 sport wheels on it, just for something to do.
Now the 131 sport wheels with 185/60 x14 tyres went onto the punto without a problem although I think they were very close to the bumper at the rear and would scrub over some bumps if I had a heavy load in the car.
The problem with the other way round as I remember, ie fitting the mk1 punto rims onto the 131 is that the hole in the centre of the punto rim isn't big enough for the 131 but this may have only been on the rear ? ?

David, the centre hole should be 58 mm on both front and rear
(bolt configuration is 4 x 98 mm  which is typical fiat)
I am more concerned about the 6 mm ET difference which means the new rims will be 6mm closer to the chassis.
anyways, I will let you know the final result tomorrow

PS, I took Alcar (KFZ Stahlrad) 4450 rims for Panda (euro 30 / pce)

I think I only checked the rear of the 131 as I was seeing if 131 rims would clear on punto but as you say a spacer should solve it.

david, you were right...
both the front and rear did not fit wih the 58 mm holes.
I measured the oe rims with a digital caliper again and they show 58.5, just a minor difference but the new panda ones were just too small...
I grinded down both front and rear hubs a little and now they are on the car
steering goes well and  enough clearance  to the chassis and brakes, sofar no need for spacers.
