Hi Kev!
Yes, they where very proud (2 brothers who owns it)
I really cant describe the powerful sound of the engine, it gave me goose bumps on the whole body, Iam going to visit them in a few weeks, they are building 2 replikas of this car,
the best part is that they are going to let me get a fast ride in the original Abarth!!
Even my 3 year old son Kimi was impressed (blue jacket)

Alf, sorry but you have wrong information. There is one g.4 in Finland. Its owned my Marcus Gronholm. His father drew one at late seventees, and died while practising with it 1982. Marcus Gr?nholm bought one for celebrate his fathers memory.

I think Marcus Gronholm may have purchased Mick Wood's white Abarth as I heard that it was sold to a World Rally Driver.

Only 2 genuine Abarths in Scandinavia...?

We're doing quite well in Ireland with 4.... c1% of the total production...!!!  ;D

Is that a modification to the tail pipe Alf? Looks quite modern. I'm sure Mike will tell us. :)

Have talked to Mick about his gp4 car before , he did sell it to Gronholm, i had asked Mick if i could get his moulds to make panels for  my replica but he had sold car & moulds to Gronholm.. I do remember Mick having bought 2 safari cars  many years back & selling them off (they were in need of serious restoration).i do remember considering to buy one as they were very realistically priced but the rebuilding of a genuine safari car would be way beyond my abilities . don't know who they went to ..

Well, as you probably guessed, i have to reply to this one. As far as i remember there were only 2 "works" safari cars back in 1977. Not 1979. This car does NOT look like an ex-safari car. Look at the fenders, they are tarmac and not gravel. Surely these parts can be swapped. If i could see a picture from the interior or the underside of this one i could tell if this is a safari car.

Here we go: One car was driven by Walter Rohrl. This one was badly damaged on the left side when Walter colided with a mini-van. This car is never heard of again. Probably left behind in an African country and driven untill it fell apart by a local rally driver.
The second one was also left behind and was surely driven untill some 20 years ago!!! This one has seen many different color schemes. Once it was yellow/black and in the end it was white again with red and green stripes (not Alitalia). I will try to post the pictures of this car how i found it about ten years ago....

Looking close at the pictures again i'm not even convinced this car is even a real "works"car. There are so many parts that or not original or not original to group 4 cars.
I'm happy to share in some discussion  ;)

Mike you're always right!

the car is an rebuilt like Alitalia Gr.4 Guy Moerenhout Sold the car to Karoly,
and Karoly sold the car one year ago  by http://www.rally24.com/Sold/Sold-858.html
i think it gone for 90000.- Euro, and i am sure it have no 131 AR chassis Nr.

Enzo  :D

Ofcourse i'm right  :D ;)
Owning one learned me so much about the group 4 cars. I already thought this car was done by Guy  :'(
But what bothers me is that people think they bought a genuine one. And in the end it's just another replica.

I think i know which car this is, but i need to see a picture from the interior. If it's got some modifications then this could be a "special" one after all.... So, pictures please.

Sorry Mike,
i have only the Pictures from outside (2007 Rallye Elba)
but i wonder that Guy found always someone who purchased this Replica for a lot of money.
Ok it's the magic word write on it!  ABARTH.  :)

Discussing Guy is off the question. Some like his doing, some don't.

Enzo, do you recall the inside? Were there extra struts? If so, this is one of the cars that went to America. Looking at the taillights this could be very possible. You know 2 cars went over the atlantic to race in american rallies. One of those cars was completely destroyed...and i mean completely. It wasn't salvaged. Parts of that car came with the second one to Europe. That very car was...eeeh..."done" by Guy.

Which means the car in this topic is not one of the safari cars, but one of the americans. Probably even more interesting.

Rear side of the very same one...

Now i'm really sure it's not one of the Works cars but one of three shipped to Kenya for private use.

Mike, yes i think there was extra struts in the rear area but not so thick as the roll bar!
but i am not sure i have seen to many Abarth in the last 5 years!
I have some pictures from the american Fiat 131 Brava Abarth!

Hi Enzo,

I have the same pictures, and some more. If the car in this thread is really one of the two Brava's then the owner has really something special in his hands. Too bad it's not original anymore. But then again, what is after a visit at Guy's  :-\
