Title: A244 FDD - Where is it now...?
Post by: kev131 on January 20, 2008, 07:36:10 PM
This Supermirafiori was found in the car park at Plymouth airport - Didnt have much time to look that closely at it but it seemed fairly OK, except for those awful wheel covers!!

Whenever I see something like that you just know that the car is not owned by someone who appreciates what they have and probably bought it because it was cheap and had a MOT!? ::)

Kevin, do I need to remind you of a certain Panorama with Vauxhall wheel covers?

Yes - It was cheap, had an MOT and not owned by an enthusiast - ie Jacquie!!!  8) ;)

Actually I did fit them but remember CL wheels are nothing to look at and these ones were horrible having been painted silver over rust!  :o

I have a long and pleasant history with Opel/Vauxhall I will have you know  ;)

After the disaster of early Fiat years (woefully unreliable 127 & 128) I migrated to the Far East for dependability in the mechanical area only to discover that Mazda 323s (earliest version) were made of cardboard - An Opel Ascona was the perfect marriage of reliability and solidity. This became a Vx Cavalier and I drove GM cars from 1985 until 2004. Blimey - I've just realised that's almost 20 years.!!? ::) :o

Here are the wheel covers on their original steed to explain how they ended up on J's 131. I still have 2 of them.

Not funny Mr K !! Are you suggesting I'm not an enthusiast!!? ?;) :D

Anyway my 131 was neither cheap nor in possesion of a MOT (now exempt as 30 yrs old) so they will stay where they are even if they are 13inches and should fit!

Even more amazing, I studied accross the road from Plymouth Airport at the College of St Mark and St John. The funniest thing was my final exams, where the silence of the exam hall was regularly broken by the sound of jet aircraft engines! Ahh good memories.
