Title: 3ma15
Post by: Thotos on November 16, 2014, 12:27:31 AM
I would like to suggest that 3ma15 should be 27th to 30th May 2015.

So the main idea of this rather over-stretched and long post is to get both suggestions for 2015 and 2016 but also and more importantly volunteer(s) to organise 3ma15 and 3ma16. If all else fails I'll end up organising 3ma15 in Wales by recycling one of a number of Lancia events I attended in Wales  ;) ;D and I'm sure you'd all want something better and of course better organised than the rather chaotic meeting that promises to be if I organise it  ;D  8)

With the NEC Classic Motor Show done and dusted, our attention will be turned towards 3ma15. While little has been said about 3ma15, a lot of organising has already taken place behind the scenes and full details of 3ma15 will be announced soon. The good news is that Hero member Phil (http://www.131mirafiori.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=472) has stepped forward and taken on the mantle and the thankless task of organising 3ma15. The dates have now been fixed as already suggested from Wednesday 27th May to Saturday 30th May 2015.

Our base will be Llangollen, a small town in Denbighshire, north-east Wales,  situated on the River Dee and on the edge of the Berwyn mountains. Llangollen has something for every visitor with an astonishing range of caf?s, bars, hotels, restaurants and a wealth of independent shops to browse and interesting places to visit.

We have offers from two hotels which we are considering and details of our chosen hotel will be announced soon once we finalise the best deal we can get.

Further details to follow soon.

Thanks Theo for putting all the hotel information onto the site.

There?s not a huge amount to report at the moment, I have planned three days driving and have the basis of an idea for the last day.

Tansy and I are going to stay at the hotel next weekend, when we will drive the routes to make sure everything works and I will provide updates after our stay at the Wild Pheasant Hotel.

Hotel booked and getting on to sort out ferry.... ;D

That is great news Heini, I think you are the first to book this year ;D

If any one decides to take the overnight boat from Holland to Harwich, let me know you are all welcome to have breakfast at my house (1/2 an hour from the ferry) before setting off to 3ma.

What ever ferry crossing you decide on I am sure we can arrange a meeting point for a 131 convoy.  8)

Excellent news Ren?. Hopefully we'll get a convoy from the South of the UK and we should be able to meet somewhere on route. Your SatNav or Google maps might suggest you drive north on the M1 but I think going north-west on the M40 is a better choice. Maybe because the M1 traffic jams killed my Gamma engine I now avoid the M1 😠 We could meet on the first M40 services as a few of us did on the way to the NEC last November 😄

We're booked as of today too!  8)  Managed to book a Superior room (naturally! ;D) for me and Wendy - bigger bed at a small additional cost, with the girls in a standard twin. (I'll be glad when they're at work and can pay for themselves  ;)).

As there's now effectively four adults and the journey for us this year in not trans-European, we'll probably bring two 131s - assuming I can get two to pass the MoT  ::) Fingers crossed........

Just a quick reminder, if you haven't done so already, you only have one week left to book your hotel room. :o :o
On 1st March any rooms that have not been booked will be released, this is a very popular destination so book your room sooner than later

Only 93 days to go till 3ma 8)

Hi All,

I had a chat with the hotel yesterday and they have agreed to extend the booking deadline to 14 March, so if you haven't done so please reserve your hotel room in the next two weeks.

As Jason has already said if you can join us it doesn't have to be for the whole stay - just come when you can ;D

Drive two we start with a visit to the local Llangollen motor museum, then head off up the horse shoe pass going to Ruthin and then making our way to the mountains of Snowdon and to the national slate museum, where you can watch demonstrations of how to split slate. There are a couple of cafes on site for you to choose where to have lunch.

Then we continue our drive around Snowdon before an afternoon tea / coffee stop before we drive:

Then we go to our lunch stop at Pennanu craft and coffee shop.
