Might be only because of the name of our "Club" but we get top billing on the A to Z list of exhibitors at the NEC  Grin

Ha. Nice one. Lucky it isn't the 124's anniversary or we would have been beaten into 2nd place!  Smiley

I think we can call our first (and I'm sure also our last) foray into the NEC Classic Motor Show a great success. The cars looked fantastic and attracted a lot of attention. Our rather simplistic stand looked good and compared well with the stands of other small clubs. I noticed many people ?studying? our banners and even saw a couple scan the QR codes to visit our website. And our video presentations fascinated and captivated many.

It was good to meet a lot of our members and put faces to the sometimes cryptic pseudonyms used on the forum.  A couple of Scottish members left their home at 2:00am to make it in time for the 10:00am start on Friday. With such commitment and enthusiasm about classic cars and 131s in particular, it was good that we were there to meet them and greet them. And of course there were many members who flew over from Ireland  for the show. One of them even brought me some Trevi parts so thank you very much  Wink Cheesy The main objective of our stand at the show was to increase awareness in the Fiat 131 and I think we achieved that. So many people that came to the stand were astounded at the presence and condition of the cars. ?I never knew there were so many left? was a phrase heard many times.  But unlike other clubs that have paying members and use shows like this to increase awareness about their club and therefore get more members and increase revenue, we had nothing to gain. In fact if the eight of us involved in setting up and manning the stand pooled our costs of the weekend, we could buy a very nice roadworthy 131! That?s why I think this is also our last NEC display stand.

I'd still like to do massive one day 131  gathering for the whole of the uk 131ers   , attached to a show thats relatively cheap as even 3ma in wales in 2015 can be an expensive i think i can only make one day ,, and i passed the knebworth sign down the A1 ,

We've had a few 1 day events in Sussex and Essex but I don't think we got more than 5 131s. The UK is a large place so to get the whole of the UK 131ers you'll need a venue somewhere in the middle of the country. maybe next year's MITCAR? http://www.aroc-uk.com/eastmids/page73.html.

When the 3 mad amigos started planning the first 3ma in 2007, we decided it had to be a 4 day event to make it worthwhile to spend a day or two travelling to the event and then another day or two travelling back home. The format has worked very well so all 3mas have been 4 days long. But of course you don't have to attend all 4 days and people can come and go as they please. We even used to have a static event day so people coming for just the one day could come and see the cars, socialise etc. That worked well for Bobby in 2008 who came and joined the rest of us at the Falkirk wheel.
