We are planning to have a little get together on Sunday 24th August (having first consulted with A & A!) and everyone is welcome

We have a basic plan worked out, but will confirm details later, we will most probably meet near Colchester at a cafe for breakfast / coffee, then we will take a nice country drive back to ours, via a lunch stop, for dinner, beer, wine etc  Grin

Just updating dates for events in my diary and calendar - Phil, do we have any more details?  Grin Might be useful if you could point us in the direction of some local accommodation too please as otherwise I won't be able to avail myself of the excellent hospitality that you and your Dear Wife Tansy have to offer. Cool Grin

Just back from holiday - how do I always find a holiday spot with rubbish internet Huh

if you pay upfront Premier Inn are offering a family room for ?40 a night, it's only about 5 miles away so not too expensive a taxi ride and I will pick up people in the morning and bring you all back for breakfast.

The link is below.

http://www.premierinn.com/en/checkHotel/CLABOW/clacton-on-sea-north/colchester-road

Travel lodge in Clacton are offering a room at ?55

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/405/Clacton-on-Sea-Central-hotel

Now that I am back I will now start working on the details for the day, the format will be similar to last year, seeing a different bit of Essex / Suffolk.

Tansy & I did the recce drive yesterday, all went well. Shocked

The meeting point on Sunday 24th August at about 10am is:

The Jubilee
Old London Road
Ardleigh
CO7 7QJ

On a Sunday they open at 10am, and do one of the best breakfasts you'll ever eat, Tansy and I will definitely be tucking in on the day Grin they also do great coffee  Cool

http://www.foodanddrinkguides.co.uk/colchester/the-jubilee-restaurant/restaurant/4797/#.U7gjN7HrxNY

I have checked on google maps and the post code is correct, if you're coming from London on the A12 you need to be careful on the A12 Ardleigh / Colchester junction. You leave the A12, go onto the roundabout then you need to take the slip-road for the A120, but turn off left immediately (go slowly if you miss the road you end up in Clacton Huh). If there are signs for Ardleigh car boot sale follow them & drive past to The Jubilee  Wink

Looks great Phil and Tansy! Can't wait! Cool

My 131 of choice for this run will probably be my yellow 1600 Special, although I might press the orange one into service if persuaded!  Grin Wendy and I took the girls out in the yellow S today to meet Andy and Nita C for lunch in Midhurst, W. Sussex, a round trip for us of some 65 miles, and it's fair to say that '4-up' the 1600 ohv struggles a little - especially on the hills  Undecided so I hope your planned route is quite flat  Grin (We had a  most delicious lunch by the way, a pub that we shall most definitely be going to again!).

Talking of lunch, looks like that lunch-stop sandwich is less than the ?15 minimum of last year Phil.  Wink

Essex & Suffolk don't really do hills - more like hillocks  Grin

On feed-back from last year, we test drove the food as well as the route this year, ?15 buys 2.5 sandwiches Wink
