Nice one Simon, must be a mirror image photo look where the petrol filler cap is, its on the left side! also where the ariel is thought they were only on the left? strange.

I'm sure it's a 'flipped' mirror photo too, as I'm pretty sure the car is a later Turkish TOFAS 131, (which would have been LHD) as the FIAT 131 with the later 'chrome and black' door openers was the series 3 which in Supermirafiori form also had the wide lower door trims, or thick centre door trims if a CL - neither of which feature in the above pic - a la TOFAS.

Aerials could be in most locations, often depended upon where the dealer drilled the hole ;D - in fact series 1 cars could be in the middle of the roof :o - all three of mine are ;)

With my electronics anorak on, I'd like to say that ideally aerials on front-engined cars should be located at the rear of the car (so they are as far away from the engine as possible) and on the opposite side of the distributor. All the 131s I've owned (just four of them) had the aerial at the back but on the same side as the distributor so the supplying Fiat dealers went for aesthetics (aerials look better fitted to the nearside) rather than best reception/minimum interference. The aerial lead from the radio should be routed to the opposite side of the vehicle than the aerial and then run to the back of the car diagonally across the car's floor so it does not run in parallel to the car's electrics as that can also cause interference.  All rather academic in my 131 as the car is too loud to be able to listen to the radio...  ;D

As usual your postings are very informative Theo - I had always wondered why aerials are sometimes located so far away from the unit they feed ie the radio in the dash.

Just squeezing into my anorak now - That rear bumper doesn't look like any 131 bumper I've seen! Even on a Tofas..! ;)

It was the rear bumper that 'sold it to me' as being a TOFAS 131 Kev. I have pics of Turkish 131s taken by my best mate Ian whilst on holiday there about 5 years ago, that show cars with this same bumper on. If I can find them again I'll scan them and you'll see what I mean. :)

In the meantime however if one of our Turkish members can confirm or otherwise, that would be great. ;)
