I need to rebuild my power steering rack as i have some leaks on input shaft. Does anyone kno where can i get all 4 seals(2 for input shaft and 2 for output shaft). I tried in my local shop with such things and they had none in stock but will try to locate it so if i get them i will be able to supply it later but in case somebody knows where to get such kit then i will be happy to buy it. It needs to be high pressyre seals.
I am also willing to rise pressure a bit in my power steering as with 1,7turn lock to lock it is not that easy to turn the wheel(not too bad but it can always be better). Hopefully fitting a bit stronger spring or a washer on the original one in relief valve in pump will do the job. Has anyone made it with success?

Have a feeling you will have to try a seals specialists as Fiat never really sold internal steering rack parts but if it is any help Lucas do a power steer stop leak and it is very good as I had to use it 6 years ago in my Thema as the rack was well over 1000 euro and never saw the leak again.....

There is no need to get a new one as it is all in pefect condition except the sealings that will cost probably no more than about 30 euro and you get a steering rack like new.

Have you tried contacting TRW (www.trw.com) who make the racks for the 131? In the UK, Power Steering Services (http://www.power-steering.co.uk) are very big and very good at reconditioning Power Steering Racks. Normally they will offer an exchange or recondition service for your rack but they may be able to supply the kit for you. Incidentally, the same TRW racks as on the 131 are used on the Maserati Biturbo (pre 1988) so try your local Maserati dealer!? Grin

If that is the case Theo would David Eskew be worth a try as he might even know where the internal parts could be sourced from....

David Askew (http://web.onetel.net.uk/~davidaskew/maserati/index.htm) started off as a used parts service (he broke a lot of old Biturbos for parts) but now also offers a refurbishment service so might be worth a call to ask if he knows where to get the repair kits from.
