Stripped shell weight?

Hi guys! I`m in the middle of making a rotisserie for my Mk3 and i could use some info on the weight of a naked 4-door shell (no doors,bonnet,boot lid,etc.).Any info would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!

Thanks for your speedy replies guys  ! I`m building the thing so i can rotate the shell instead of working under the car.Although it is pretty easy to build,i would prefer to have some figures concerning the weight of the shell,just to be on the safe side.

I expect you understand that a rusty shell to start with weighs less than a fully rebuilded one

you dont need any figures its a 131 a small enough shell just make it & dont be worrying & complicating a very easy job just get the centre of your car & use that as your pivot point, a frame each side & either a center bar or brackets each end, depends on how rotten your front & rear is.

It will be near 220-250kg . When i made my friend's rally honda civic(3d body 1993year) we have checked the weight of bare shell and it was 213kg.

Thanks everbody!I assumed that it`s pretty light but a couple of opinions can`t hurt,right  ? As for rot,there`s plenty.From how it looks now,i`m in for some serious work on this baby.The wheel wells are eaten through completely where they meet the door pillars.

my guess would be 500kg

complete car is 1000-1100kg

engine+gearbox ~ 200kg
interior stuff at least 100kg
rear axle 50kg
glass 50kg?
suspension 50kg?
doors/bonnet/boot/front guards 100kg?
wheels 50kg

so removing all that: 1100-600 = 500kg

So probably design the rotisserie for at least 500kg  maybe 600kg - you might want to do something inside the car while it is up there.

I will try to check the weight of the bare shell with suspension and brakes soon as i will be sandblasting such car this week.

Here is one version of "grill" I have designed with my uncle. Is is adjustable and portable. The stress analysis is also made and it will hold easily a shell with 600 kg. Of course you need one of these grills to both end of your car.

I have all the steel bars cutted to correct length and waiting in my garage. After my current 131 project I will weld this together.

Thats great if you have something to bolt it to.In my case the rear of the shell is ok,but most of the front will have to be reconstructed so i`ll have to make some reinforcements before mounting it on the rotisserie.I noticed Walezy has a very interesting system with a central beam going through the windshields and affixed on strut mounts.That is IMHO a better solution since it could relieve more stress from the body then the usual designs.
