Has anyone swapped out the air conditioner in their 131 with an aftermarket air conditioner or one that was made for another car?  Is it possible?

I think the factory a/c in 131 was a pretty standard one ... Sanden SD-507 or 509 I think

Wait, this should be true for the late DOHC models. Early models - Mk1 used completely different type of compressor - I can't give the details and don't know much about that. Anyway, conversion to the modern type shouldn't be a problem.

I think they were of completely different type, early one heavy and quite tall. I'm not sure who was the producer. Perhaps any of the US guys can help us with that
