Hi Guys
I have a  UK spec, 1979 131 1300CL which was never fitted with rear seat belts.
(Guess this was not a UK requirement in 1979...?)
Anyway, there are no slits in the rear parcel shelf to enable retro-fitting of intertia reel rear belts. Nor are there any threads in the boot where I can see one would bolt the inertia reels to.

There are 2 plastic blanking caps on the rear roof pillars just above the rear seat squab.  So I am assuming that there was an option to fit manual (non inertia reel belts) to this car.

My question is: does anyone have an older 131 like mine with manual rear belts?
If so, where are the other 2/4 (lower) anchor points for the belts? I assume there are 2 holes with threads under the rear seat but I should also be able to see holes for bolts near the door openings? No?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Pete

If I remember correctly there are the mountings you mention, ones behind the back door on the inner wheel well. I think there is a mounting for the inertia reel under the parcel shelf high up in the boot.

You might need to cut the parcel shelf for the belts to pass through.

I've fitted rear belts into every series of 131 but I've never been able to fit inertia reel belts in that location. All you can get is static belts for the rear of the 131 - and I've tried several times from a variety of different sources, to get inertia ones, so if anyone knows of anything different please let me know. Hi
Thanks everyone for your comments and advice.
I can buy static seat belts no problem (foudn them on ebay).

I have removed the seat base no problem.

Now I need to remove the rear seat back rest.
Does anyone know how to remove it?
Thanks

At the bottom in each corner there are metal tabs to bend to release it at the bottom then just lift it upwards and unhook it.

Thanks Dave, I'll do that and see if there are anchor points for the seat belt bolts.

Pete,

The anchor points are on the lower wheel arch section behind the backrest of the rear seat, with the centre fixings being, well, in the centre. Cheesy. These are usually blocked by a plastic plug which should simply push out with a screwdriver (or similar) onto the floor under the car.

The top fixings are close to the rubber door trim under the reading light on the 'c' pillar and are again filled with a plastic plug which will need to be pulled out rather than pushed.

Hope this helps. Cool

Cheers
