Title: Irish sports day out
Post by: ros on October 09, 2008, 10:12:41 PM
Mirafiori sport owners, how about a day out in the midlands, possibly in the slieve blooms (County Laoise) in the not too distant future. It would be nice to get the majority of Irish sports to congregrate for pics and scenic run. Location & date to be confirmed.  Any interest out there?????

Great idea I am up for it but could we include every old and modern Fiat to ever have sport or sporting put on it as there is acinquecento sporting club who might join in as these are young people who have embrassed the idea of sporting Fiats and who be future 131,124 and 127 owners as there are some wicked driving roads up my way (sleive Bloom national park) ;D ;D ;D

I'm up for this as long as the weather is not too bad - The planned scenic route will be invisible if the rain rolls in I understand. - Otherwise sounds like the makings of a good days driving.

Bren - Do you plan to provide an update on whether it goes ahead late on Saturday, depending on the weather forecast..?  ;)

Yes Kev, I will put a posting on here to confirm or cancel when I get the weather forecast on Saturday, for Sunday's weather. Alternatively if your in any doubt whether the event is going ahead or not, ring me on one of the numbers above before you start your travel. Regards Brendan.

Celica looks really cool Nick - Looking forward to seeing it some day.

This is what RTE have to say about tomorrow's weather... as at 9.30 am today.

Tomorrow will be a brighter, cooler day, with sunshine and scattered showers - the showers mainly in the west and north. Temperatures will reach 8 to 12 degrees in fresh westerly winds.

Well even though my "baby" has been dehumidified since the Leenane drenching I'll be in Portlaoise whatever the weather is like in Limerick when I set off (around 9.0am).

I'm gonna trust in GK's thorough "dinitroling"!!  ;)

Any other committals?? ;)

Just back from our day out touring in the Slieve Bloom mountains - First time for me in this part of Ireland and great scenery and roads. The weather was on and off so didnt really encourage very spirited driving.

Lots of 131 chat and fantastic open air catering from the the O Beirne sisters!!? ;)

Forum members in attendance were :

Brensports
Ros
SID131
Theredx1-9
Gerafiori and
Kev131.

Pics to follow - Camera got a bit wet so some are bit blurry around the edges. Also we lost Robert mid way who had a mishap with a fanbelt - No doubt he will take up the story when he has had a full appraisal. As a result we missed out on the opportunity for some pics of the 3 tango Sports.? :-[

Actually it must have been that cyclist on the phone.... objecting to being almost run over on the run up to the Cut!! ;)

And here is Louvre man at full pelt...! Taking full advantage of the extra aerodynamics!!!

the yugo zastava is almost the same car as fiat 128 only with a slopey back right? or is it the 127? thought these cars were ok & pretty nippy if i remember, havnt seen one here in years, scrappage scheme did away with a lot of the 80s cars here in Ireland.
