anyone ever used one of these on a 131?

Didnt the abarth works cars use a modified water expansion bottle to do the same job? have seen this in pictures.

Frank Chrurch's car had that but I always thought it was something he did. I use a small plastic bottle mounted near the cross member but it's a bit too small and fills up quickly. Mind you it got me to Italy and back without the need to empty it so might be just right.

Theo i have a K&N engine breather on the celica & all it needs is a odd clean & at a show this year i saw a xr3 escort with the oil catch tank & braided lines going to & from which i really liked so i am going to make one up a stainless for my car & still put a 16mm  k&n filter on the vent, (have to put the tig welder to use Grin Grin) i also am going to make a custom stainless timing cover to show off the vernier pulleys,
this one came up on my daily ebay search for 131 stuff so i thought i would ask the forum.

Dont forget to fit the little flame trap in the brether pipe as that stops alot of oil droplets coming up...

I used to have a K&N breather to go with the K&N filter on my Silver Sport with the Standard carb. But I could smell the oil vapour fumes and gave me a headache  Undecided so then I made a small bracket and mounted the breather filter right up against the carburettor filter. That eliminated the smell but I suppose defeated the object as oil fumes were sucked into the engine albeit double filtered!  Grin

My current plastic bottle 'catch tank' is mounted low by the cross member so oil droplets inevitably end in there due to gravity even though the flame trap wire gauze filter is still in the pipe.

You should get that checked out Theo as it is back pressure that will send out oil droplets past the flame trap and not gravity as if that was the case the oil would stay in the sump...

My 'catch tank' (plastic bottle) is mounted lower than the sump in my case Dave that why gravity comes into play.

Would you not mount it higher and use a Liebig type pipe on it to stop the engine filling the bottle but how big is the bottle....

The bottle is small and it should be mounted higher (but I need a different bottle for that). I have a spare washer bottle and spare expansion tank so I might adapt one of those to suit. But as I said, I managed the whole 3ma09 to Italy and back and when I got back it was almost full but not quite; so it's not very high on my list of things to do.
