This was one of the fortuitous experiences of 3ma10 and I suspect something that had only a small chance of happening ...and only in either Germany or Italy.

As we drove from Dunkirk to Lossburg, our 5 car convoy was buzzed by a throaty orange and ratty 132 - He came from nowhere and passed each 131 in turn before allowing each to repass him. We exchanged smiles and waves and drove together for 10kms or so until a McDonalds sign signalled a coffee break and an opportunity to say hello to our unexpected escort.

The driver was called Roger and was extremely friendly and enthusiastic about Fiats (and Simcas). He said that he had seen the Abarth in the distance and had put his foot down to catch up and he couldn't believe his eyes as he saw one 131 after another in front of him!  Shocked

The car itself is a Series 3, despite first impressions that it is a Series 1. The bumpers, door rubbing strips, rear panel, door mirror, grill, etc have all been removed or replaced with earlier versions. The wheels and bonnet were painted black along with the racing stripe at the back - Overall, quite a racy effect for a 132.

The car itself was a one owner car abandoned in a forest when he found it. It had gone green from neglect but fired up almost immediately. It showed 56000kms (now 65000) and after a re-spray in it's original orange colour and the above mentioned mods, it is a regular car for Roger to blast around Germany. If you get to read this... thanks for stopping and chatting Roger. Wink
